I saw the Everton thing as him being backed into the corner once it became apparent to the wider public that he wanted to leave, with this being more of a last resort than a preferred choice. Also, in fairness, if you looked at Everton's outlay in the last few seasons they should be challenging for Champions League football and might well do next season with Ancelotti in place. The guy is still in his twenties and hasn't killed anyone. Is he greedy? Maybe, but then he didn't grow up rich and so money probably seems pretty important to him. He can use that money to support not just himself but his family and close friends. Perhaps the charity things is a tax thing, but when he's spoken about his foundation and his charity work he seems pretty genuine and his time in the Ivory Coast has clearly opened his eyes. The fact remains he is probably still our only player who regularly produces something out of nothing.

I think that, if he was keen, Wilf must have viewed Everton as a more likely stepping stone to his true ambitions than Palace. however it's played out, it wasn't an insane analysis at the time

I'd presume he sacked his agent in favour of one with more influence who could persuade a champions league club to pay the price we want. Much the same as you or I using a different estate agent if the one we were with couldn't get a buyer for our house at the market price. And surely the point here is that it's the other way around - he is more valuable to us than he would be to most potential buyers? Otherwise he'd be long gone.

If we win tonight, we will go level on points with Sheffield United, who have City next, and 1 point behind Wolves, who have Liverpool. 6th and 7th place are likely to get you a place in the Europa League. If we show a bit of ambition we could well be playing at a higher level next season. No doubt Roy will just stick everyone behind the ball again and play for a draw like he's done against Brighton, Norwich, Southampton, Newcastle, Watford, Bournemouth. Many might also say it will result with us being in a relegation scrap next year, which even more negative that my attitude.

Not disagreeing with most of what you say, if fact your 100% right about supporting him but i have to disagree about being the best player week in week out. Kenny Samson was better by a long way and like you I've been going since the 60's sometimes it feels a lot longer.

I'm sticking with the argument that we have the 9th highest wage bill and we are 9th in the league, making the performance average. He's an average manager. He's good at what he does but doesn't seek to improve. Our 9 draws is a telling sign of how we are set up and what we are playing for.
