The resenting, scornful tripe on here does my nut.
With Sakho, Meyer and Benteke stealing similar salaries from the club, they and their agents knowing the grass isn't greener elsewhere and none of them fit to lace Wilf's boots, why is it that so many feel our star player deserves such negativity? He has more than paid his dues. God knows where we would be without him over these past (many) seasons.

It amuses me the way that Sky and other media outlets are reporting today that Wilf is ‘prepared’ to stay (as if he he is doing the club a favour) until the summer when the implication is that his new super agent will engineer a deal away.
Wilf has 3 and a half years left on his contract and the club is under no imminent pressure to sell.
For him to go either a club will have to stump up the money that Palace would require to sanction a sale, or Palace will have to reduce the asking price.
The latter seems unlikely at the moment.

For whatever reason he has rarely hit his peak this season and yet so often he is still the main catalyst for our goals, as was the case with the equaliser on Saturday. It is frustrating to see him play within himself and I hope he can get out of his head and starts producing the goods again and enjoying himself, as it is still a joy to see him walk through three defenders like they aren't there.

If he could give us three or four months of vintage Wilf, help us to our highest PL points tally then I'm sure most of us would thank him and wish him well if he heads of in the summer. If, however, he carries on playing like he has done recently then I can see the fans starting to get increasingly antsy. Personally I'll always have his back as he has brought so much joy to my watching of Palace over the years and has been integral to our place in the PL.

Fk me, how dark is the sun in your world?

Dark enough to get bored of the whole saga, it’s like a never ending soap opera. How he feels the need to confirm he will honour a bit more of his contract, until someone will pay more, is depressing.

I think that is the nicest way of saying he won't throw a public wobbly as we have seen before.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Dark enough to know that Zaha and his entourage kick up a stink every transfer window which probably has more to do with money than he lets on.

Chelsea are rumoured to have been put off by his wage demands of £200,000 per week

Which, if anyone takes the trouble to look at the comments following that linked article, is pretty much what the rest of the world thinks. I'm also inclined to think that you're on the right track; how grateful do we have to be to someone who's being paid extremely well to do their job?

I really don't get this theory that Zaha is after more money. It is a matter of record that he gives a set 10% of his wages to charities in the UK and Ivory Coast. If he's greedy, that's a funny way of showing it.

The more likely explanation is that he wants to play at the highest level he can, simply for the football. I for one totally understand that, just like I understand that he signed a big contract with us of his own free will and can only leave if we get the price we want.

He seems to understand that too.

the main point here is that the most important person at the club in SP, knows exactly how important he is to us and will dig his heels in to keep him.

whereas quite frankly, some of you guys dont have a scooby about quite how important he is to our to flight status.

Why was he so desperate to sign for Everton in the summer then if he was after Champions League football

The unanswerable question.

As for the 10% of his wages, footballers wages are made up in some very imaginative ways, including image rights and bonuses s,o to an extent, it rather depends on 10% of what. Also, the wealthy only ever make charitable donations that are structured to be tax deductible. For 10% read more like a few per cent; in reality there's probably some old dears who give more, percentage, wise to the church on a Sunday. It's a good thing that anyone contributes to worthwhile charities, but I refuse to accept that as reasoning for thinking Zaha is some sort of altruist.

I never saw him come out and say that, he said he wanted to leave, true never pushed for a specific offer.
