A bit desperate if you are now including Ireland. I have one Northern Irish great great grand parent. That is the best I can do for you Kermy. The odd incursion by non British people has next to no impact on the gene pool outside of London in thousands of years. I know it suits your narrative to claim otherwise. I expect a lefty loon is making up new history somewhere as we speak. Well millions of Irish (Northern Ireland wouldn't have existed around your gggparents' time) were considered immigrants here and over the pond, of course. My original point which you disputed stands. Very few in England today would not have an immigrant in their bloodline going back say 150 years. You are not one of them. Nor am I. Oh, and just to clarify, this is not about historical DNA being of mostly English origin it is about whether the majority of us have ancestors who came here as immigrants. Economic or otherwise. The problem with your anecdotal assertion is that even if true, it does add up to much in the grand scheme of genetics. You are trying to imply that many of us carrying a significant amount of genes from elsewhere and that is simply not true for the vast majority in most of the British Isles. Don't know many more ways I can say it.

So by your thinking even large chunks of this small unrepresentative group can't trace their roots back to ancient Britain, so can you explain how the majority of Britains can trace their roots back to ancient britain?

So now you are retrospectively editing your posts. I don't have to dispute anything. It is up to you to prove your original assertion.

I don't have to explain anything. The literature is out there. I know that some of you would dispute that the World is a sphere if it didn't suit your politics. I called out Kermy on his dodgy original statement. That's it.

Fair enough, you don't need to explain anything you can make up a statement and mis represent some research just to suit your view but you should be aware that is what you are doing.

Edited by Kermit8 (28 Nov 2016 9.53pm) Ireland somehow doesn't count now apparently. Most will know what is meant by "exotic" anyway. One day spent obsessing over how "foreign" non white brits on the TV look to some, and the next fixating on "foreign genes" in Britain and how in his family there isn't much of an "impact on the genepool". What does tomorrow hold I wonder?

You get to weight 'impact' how you wish and personally I view my own DNA with interest rather in terms of a kind of 'purity' through the ages. Here's the first result that came up for me [Link] It's a detailed DNA study based on a sample size of millions. It offers a clear take on how 'british' or 'foreign' our fellow countrymen are in every area of the country. The daily mail states the figure of 37% british on average. If you wish to discuss or contest this do so, but I won't be taking part as I don't care if someone is a few more percent from this place or that generations ago.
