Fair Play. Goodbye Hodgeson and thanks for the memories.

1) Benitez won't come here, he wants another club with the chance of prizes and we can't afford him or the transfer budget he would demand. IMO no point wishing for what's not feasible and IMO Benitez is not a feasible option given what his stated desires are and our status.
2) I could live with Howe, if we had to
3) Nuno - an interesting option but he apparently wants a bit of a break (so he purportedly says). Don't see him coming here or Spurs
4) Parker - no thanks; he's still got a lot to learn IMO
5) Lampard, rather like Howe, I could live with him but he's more risky.
6) Sean Dyche - at least he'd probably keep us up and might surprise everyone with what eh could do with our resources.

We may yet end up with one of the up and coming Championship managers

Ultimately, though, I don't have a clue who'll come but it's fun to play the guessing game

Finally - NOT one of our ex-managers, please no!

Whoever it is I am hoping he’ll be as committed and loyal to Palace as Roy has been - and not leave us in the lurch like Pulis and Big Sam. I was disappointed when both left - although I do now appreciate the wisdom of them leaving before their limitations were exposed.
I think it’s important we appoint for the next 3 years and secure a manager prepared to commit to that.

If Lampard has in fact ruled himself out then we may well have avoided being in the same situation in 12 months time when a better option presents itself.

Thats a disgrace
although did hear some player last week name a few stadiums they love playing as old school - Selhurst was first mentioned

But by now after 8 years we should have new stands ///

all gone on 100k per week wages for non returns ... (Tekkers, Wickham, Sakho etc ... )

well we've have had a bit of cladding but I'm with you.

This new manager s*** will drag on all summer and we'll end up with someone about 1 week before the start of the new season...its all a load of bollox really.

The recent Times article correctly stated that Roy was leaving and it would be announced prior to the Arsenal game. On the basis this was correct the same article also stated that Lampard was not under consideration as the next manager.

Lampard would of only used it as a stepping stone anyway as soon as another job became available he would of jumped on it.

It is a shame we wont ever find out the real reason why both those managers walked either of them I believe based on records could of been at the club fair amount of time plus moved us to a solid middle table place no problem if backed.

3 years is a long time I could see Dyche hanging around that long but not sure he would get on or put up with SP.

It comes down to no matter who takes over anyway if they are not backed £ or given time it's meaningless this is what worries me we have seen plenty of evidence that SP wont dig into his own pocket and the Americans saved us before with injecting some funds wont do it again.

I included him in the generic "up and coming Championship managers"

1st Choice. Benitez. Excellent experience.
2nd Eddie Howe. Young and better potential. Could do really well with Palace players.
3rd Nuno Espirito - Excellant flair, hard to get but now is the time if possible that Spurs don't get him.
4th Scott Parker - Decent. I think if we don't get other 3 then Mr Parker should be considered.

Lamps should be a last option as with him it will either go really well and or we get relegated. Main problem with the Chelski legend is that media will protect him no matter even if we are about to get relegated.

Sean Dyche no thank you!

what would de without being drip fed world class wonderkids & top, top players by superagents?

Holloway got us promoted then had the integrity to walk away when he realised the job was not for him. Neil Warnock served us well.

The other two failed in the job.

The Wolves manager has packed his side with
Portuguese speaking players. The Burnley squad is
predominantly white.
Cannot see how either manager would adapt at Palace

It’s incredibly exciting and I’m relishing the opportunity to ‘start again’. I’m hoping the new manager will revitalise the club, players and general image.

I’ve heard quite a few times recently, including from Roy, that the focus moving forward is going to be on youth in terms of playing staff but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was also the case for the manager too, employing a younger guy.

Either way, I’d expect there to be no announcement until the season’s well finished and award ceremony has taken place.

Despite rumours, I still think Lampard will be liked by Parish but it will all depend on someone’s commitment to the cause and desire to blood through academy products. We can guess all day long but if they don’t focus on these the areas when interviewed then they’ll not be successful.
