One pundit (Leon Osman) made the obvious point the other night when he said that if Palace are focusing on developing the squad for the future then that takes four or five years and you don't employ a 73-year-old man to oversee that realistically. I think he'll go as we haven't heard any positive noises to suggest otherwise from the club or the manager, and Roy's demeanour increasingly whiffs of one who is heading to the gallows.

Indeed, Roy is not staying.

Roy is not the future.... he never really was... he was a stop gap manager to hold the line and the budget... it's that simple.

Does Howe deserve a crack at the prep? Personally he should be in a champ club proving his worth, he failed at the prem in all honesty.

I feel a champ level manager with potential should be considered for us.

I also think we should totally restructure ourselves and Parish should come out and say it.

For instance, a yo yo club doesn't break the bank to get promoted from the champ, they don't break the bank to stay in the league either. They get in the prem, have a couple of years, collecting the money, go down, have another go, you get an exciting season then back in the big league.

I feel for us, we should look at the league as split in two. Top ten, bottom ten. Top ten you got your united, cities, Chelseas etc they all spend big, as the reward is bigger, the demand is bigger.
For us, we should look at it as 11th is top of our league with the added bonus of a cup run. We should be 16th/17th in terms of wages, bringing in exciting youth, a stepping stone for champ players to prove their worth and we should be having fun seasons where we get to 40 points comfortably and then focus on the cups after xmas.

We should not be held hostage to this league and be terrified of going down... relegation should not be the end of the world, that just shows piss poor club management.

do I want us to be a yoyo club, no... do I want us spending big bucks... nope. Do I want some excitement, 100%.

Media today reporting that Howe is not close to signing for anyone and that he will decide post season.

Take that as you like.

So did Roy at his first job in the top division as he was sacked by Blackburn when they were bottom of the league.

Intriguingly the decision on who will replace Roy will be made in part by someone who has failed dismally at management in the Championship having been sacked (or mutually consented) from Bolton and Notts Forest

I think there will be missive changes this summer, New manager Probably Howe, Zaha will leave, as will Benteke, Dann, Ward, Cahill. Sakho, PVA and Wickham, possibly the American's replaced by new buyers, a big gamble but Roy is too old to manager a complete rebuild.

I’d love to keep Cahill. Senior pro, potential cover at Centre Back and with his ability and experience, surely a great defensive coach. He comes across so well in interviews, intelligent, sharp and a good communicator. He will surely go on to do his coaching badges and be part of a top management team in time?

I imagine the new manager will get to work with Wilf too as I really don’t see another team stumping up the transfer fee and wages we and he will demand. He’s another year older, has lost his electrifying pace and his ‘threat’ was completely nullified in our most recent game against the Toffees, one of the teams allegedly interested in him.

There are better, cheaper and younger alternatives for the money so for those reasons I see him staying with us for the start of next season.

He only has two years left on his contract at the end of this season, so if we don't sell him then or extend his contract he will walk away in two years for nothing, i cannot see Parish letting that happen

Personally think if Wilf does not leave at the end of season he and us will have missed the boat ! Regarding him getting a big move and us getting a big fee .

All the changes will be done by letter? Due to Covid, I guess.
