That should have been Hennessy’s defence. It is now, by common consent. You have only to read this thread to know that does not apply to those "taking the knee".
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

So, football teams are taking a knee to prevent violent criminals being accidentally killed in America? It all makes perfect sense now. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (08 Dec 2020 3.02pm) Of course they aren't! Your capacity for making mountains out of molehills ought to have made you a rich man. They empathise with those who have suffered discrimination everywhere. Floyd's death was just the tipping point for many people that meant they felt they could stand back no longer. I love the way people like you now have a new epithet to bundle up your hatred for anyone who has a modicum of social decency in their bones. Anything they now do is denigrated as "virtue signalling". For many it's a great deal more than that. It's a period of self-revelation. I doubt whether you will understand how that works.

Oh, the irony of you accusing others of bullying and having delusions of moral and intellectual superiority. Isn't that why they dispensed of your services on that particular 'other place'? You seem to have a persecution complex. We can always rely on you to rewrite history.

And after this period of self revelation what is everybody supposed to do?

I don't hate anyone, but I do have a healthy cynicism about motives. You keep living in your idealised world if it makes you feel better. Empathising with people who have suffered discrimination if they happen to be Black you mean. Funny that the accidental killing of a violent criminal was the tipping point. How many tipping points have British people had to endure because of immigration? Perhaps we should have been out on the streets over Lee Rigby or maybe taking a knee about the thousands of raped kids in the midlands. You are totally blinkered man.

Imagine if all the footballers did a ten second gesture for him at the start of every game ?

Pleased to say it all went peacefully as I thought it would. Both teams held a banner huddled together standing up 2 deep I think. Some will be gutted by this that they may have been wrong.
