This post has been merged from a topic called 'Tip Hat To Roy?' by bexleydave Have to tip me hat to Roy. After all the clowns and half decent triers we've had managing CPFC since we last got promoted, he has clearly excelled them all.

It was not that long ago when Hodgson was being pilloried on here for his use of substitutes etc etc and the very title of this thread is indicative of the mood music at the time. A sensational win at Man C has changed the mood and he is being lauded - a defeat or even a draw at home to Cardiff and I suspect the negativity towards our manager will return. The peaks and troughs of being a football manager.

The win at Manchester City had very little to do with Roy's use of substitues I appreciate that. The point I was making (Probably not very well !) was that Hodgson is now being lauded after that magnificent victory but not so long ago was being pilloried,so really contrasting emotions highlighting the peaks and troughs of football management. One minute he is being criticised and the next he is way up that 'Totem pole'.If we don't win tomorrow he might well slide down that pole. I concur with these sentiments. I believe that Everton have been in the top flight since 1954 and regularly get crowds of around 39,000.Their net spend in the summer was around £70 Mill. They have always been considered a bigger club than us.
