Well said gerry ! And for the youngster im not sure the answer and couldnt give a fcuk, but no need to apologise! Thing is, if benny wasnt where he was or didnt do what he did there would have been no penalty, last week or today, cant we get on some other players back for a bit and ruin their confidence? Keep on about them taking 40 or 50 or 120k a week, all are over paid, we know that, but keeping on at them isnt going to help our survival situation , and we all want to stay up, dont we?

I agree with both arguments about Ben. We dont give him enough quality balls, and he does fail too much from what he does get.

He's getting chances laid on for him week in week out and missing them. Don't buy this 'hes not getting the service' stuff for a minute. He absolutely is. Apart from the glaring lack of goals, he's actually playing well though, and his link up work has been as good as it's ever been with us. He's just crying out for a spell on the bench, but as Steve 'all eggs in one basket' Parish has never brought in a capable deputy for him, we're stuck with him for the rest of the season as a nailed on starter. And Sorloth looked OK today. Reasonable debut, but not ready for a regular starting berth up front IMHO.

"Another great assist today, better than his assist last week and not as good as his goal two weeks before, but a great assist none the less!" To me that sounds like somebody clutching at straws and desperate to credit Benteke, he didn't get an assist today or last week lol. And this is a football forum where we are allowed to voice our opinions. We are not the only club to do this, heck did you see the game today (from that quote doesn't look like it) when Sneiderlin came on he got booed all over the park. If Benteke has a good game I will gladly say it, but I would never lie or make things up just to "win" an internet argument.

Apology accepted son, just looked up the definition of assist on wiki, some take it as the last pass, others take it as the player winning a penalty or free kick leading to a goal! You credited Benteke with 2 assists that he did not have. Wilfred Zaha is on 1 assist for the season on Premier Leagues official website, how many pens has he legitimately won this season? I can think of 2 against bmouth off the top of my head and he actually won them. No handballs or shirt pulls off the ball. I might get slaughtered for this and im sorry for the way i post.but Benteke should have been put on bench when Sorloth came into squad and put him with wilf to get his confidence up in the PL straight away to get a chance to get much needed wins and points to safety because teke has done nothing but he's had chances against Newcastle and many more besides but all we've done is built a squad around teke which hasn't worked out he looks like he needs a break anyway what gets me he.s on 120.000 wages for what nothing more roy should have put him in reserves to get the feeling how to score again and i wouldn't put him back in first team till that happens..he's about as lively as a blackpool donkey im just watching highlights now 3 soft goals again and a penalty not good enough sorry

It does not look too good at the moment re. survivial. And should it come to the worst and we discuss after the season what went wrong, my main point would be Christian Benteke.

Enough His inability to score has now IMHO become damaging, equivalent to keeping howlers letting goals in at the other end. All the work done to set him up for chances that are squandered Thankfully Sørloth very good debut. As Luka said, if he had put the chance away after 60 mins the game could have been affected Please don't anyone trot out the headers won stat, its goals scored that matters
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
