Many of you seem to be seriously underestimating just how big a deal this really is. It might look just like a minor piece of political theatre to you but it really isn't. This is at the absolute centre of how this government is operating and if Johnson doesn't get his act together he is going to find that all the goodwill he has gathered disappearing over the horizon. He might have an 80 seat majority in the House but right now he needs the people behind him, and they aren't. Put this post in the context of the grooming gang report and a lot of people would agree with it.

He has clearly gone directly against the logic he has espoused for two months for his own reasons. It couldn't be much clearer. The fact he can find clever words to wriggle out of it being illegal is the kind of thing rich people do with their barristers. It doesn't make it right and it doesn't make it palatable. We have had residents die without their family members. It's been heartbreaking but people were stoic and operated for the greater good. They now feel like complete idiots for not just being selfish. What? Nobody can visit a Covid ward so that’s irrelevant. The funeral argument I keep hearing isn’t relevant either. 10 at a funeral so you aren’t immediate family. And he was looking after a child.

Oh put a sock on it for goodness sake. Those people couldnt visit a dying relative because they were riddled with a bug which spreads from person to person quite easily. Would you go because you want to or because cummins went to Durham. Or would you heed the advice.
