People have their rights and cannot be dismissed as anti-semitic without evidence. 'clearing scum out' etc. try that one in court. The report is very light on actual cases, for which the labour party has a working process in place already, instigated by their former leader. But he is not a 'fuhrer' if you were accused of anti-semitism think how you would feel. Do other parties have similar procedures in place? I think not.
Of course they do but it doesn't take 3 years to decide if a social media post breaks your rules. These are not complex issues and should be dealt with within weeks if not days. As for other parties if their processes are not robust then they too should face an EHRC inquiry which you seem to be down playing, this was not an investigation into the Labour Party by the Tories but an independent body.

This whole affair just demonstrates how insane political correctness is and why these absurd witch hunts should be abandoned. What is wrong with criticising Israel over their policy if that is how you feel? Why is it a sin to criticise any Jew? Are Jewish people now beyond criticism? Do we have to pretend that there is no link between Israeli policy and being Jewish? Many on the Left think so. It was always inevitable that this kind of puritanical nonsense would eat itself. Those that seemingly control our every waking thought from afar must just chuckle themselves to sleep every night. Meanwhile, SKY sports is still a 24-hour anti-racism advertisement and occasionally mentions actual sport and the BBC is still trying to ignore the Islamist threat. Anyone had enough yet?

Yup but the blessing is the rule makers eventually run out of scapegoats, as corbyn has found out.

Do we have to pretend that there is no link between Israeli policy and being Jewish? Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (30 Oct 2020 1.51pm) The complexity is that Israel is one of the few nation states that is primarily defined, and justified, on the grounds of a specific religious belief. Unlike say with Christianity or Islam, both of which have a universalist doctrine, Judaism has a very specific notion of what the 'homeland' is and why Jews should only live there. So to criticise Israel will always be tied up with issues around Jewishness. Where I struggle is the wider notion of any criticism of Jewish people being automatically anti-semitic. And good example recently was Len McCluskey speaking out against Peter Mandleson and being accused of anti-semitism around it. Absolutely ludicrous. But the question of overt Israeli influence over Western politics cannot be shied away from. We currently have a home secretary who had met with the Israelis without going through the usual protocols. It was Michael Scheuer who opened my ears to the influence in these UC Congressional hearings. This is a man who was a senior CIA officer. Top of the tree stuff. Absolutely illuminating.... Let's see what happens with the Corbyn crony crowd. "The response to the dramatic events has been mixed. 20 of the 33 SCG MPs (not counting Corbyn himself) have, at the time of writing, yet to comment on the suspension of the former Labour leader. Another five have simply retweeted the initial SCG post calling for his reinstatement, while others such as Ian Lavery, Kate Osborne, Zarah Sultana, Bell-Ribeiro-Addy and currently-suspended Claudia Webbe have taken to social media condemning the disciplinary action but giving no comment on what Corbyn said." Source: Labourlist.org Surely anyone who retweets rebuttal of the EHRC report also needs to go
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Obviously the HOL will be thrilled with Jeremy Corbyn's suspension being lifted today. (satire). Had to eat a bit of humble pie, the politics of reality. I went 'green' at the last election and now it feels the right thing. So a big split seemingly averted. Not a Starmer fan, the House of Lords provide better opposition than he does.
