The hyper partisan environment in the US certainly leads to opportunism by both the media and those wishing to hijack a cause for their own purposes. In and of itself though, protesting over this is not something that's particularly out there. Video footage, especially if it's disturbing in its content, brings about a visceral drive in people.

Unfortunately any protest where feelings are very high can spill over and undermine the peaceful elements though. We see it from the shameless looting, destruction of small businesses, and also from the police side, we see it when people get shot at or wounded simply on account that they are standing on their own porch [Link] or standing around smoking during the protests [Link]

If you know him personally and have witnessed him behaving in a racist manner, fair enough. Nothing I saw from him appeared racist it just appears you couldnt debate his point and returned armed with labels. This should be a grown up discussion nobody here things what happened was ok but the conversation is more along the lines are American police brutal on the basis of race or are they just generally brutal. I believe the latter hence why the majority of unarmed people killed by then are still white. But is this a result of the old bill being evil or the American way of life IE guns being so prominent jumpy police is natural I would argue a combination of both. Like I said earlier if racism was removed from America totally would unarmed people still be killed by police a lot the answer would be yes.
