See, for but one example, this: "I felt I had no choice but to issue a public apology and stand down. In one respect, that was a mistake. I had been warned that abasing yourself at the feet of the outrage mob and apologizing would just embolden them. They will take it as a blanket admission of guilt and demand that you be removed from all your remaining positions until you’ve lost your livelihood—and so it proved to be."

Agreed. Those who are vulnerable very much know the situation and I agree that more caution is appropriate for them. But for the rest of us.... I want a frigging Fillet o Fish. What do you think on my earlier post on closing classrooms when one child has a fever, they wait for 30 negative tests, reopen, rinse and repeat during the whole lifetime of the virus that we could be just lengthening and certainly causing more deaths elsewhere? This Dr Sarah was revelling in this attention from the start and is still doing what a lot of people delude themselves with. Thinking policies are medical and not political. And teaching most of all fall into this. More importantly. Get some chunky fish fingers and tartare sauce and your favourite bread. Better anyway. Sainsbury’s fresh southern fried coated chicken is better than kfc. I prefer real meat hamburgers anyway.

Even if that were true, which it isn't, this has been incredibly badly handled. That plenty would do exactly the same is totally beside the point. Cummings isn't just "plenty". He helped design the "we follow the science" strategy, so when he doesn't his boss needs to deal with it. If Johnson anticipated a media storm then he has failed big time. If he didn't then he is a fool. There were easy ways to mitigate the damage, retain Cummings and move on. They have either been ignored or people have been too ignorant to see them. This is a cock-up of Ratner proportions.

The BBC have been terrible since the NHS wasn’t overwhelmed and Emily Maitliss should be disciplined for getting carried away with herself. But it won’t happen and is probably helped with barely anyone at the BBC at the moment to do it even if they wanted to, and we know they don’t. They may as well have Owen Jones presenting. Probably will.

Probably will. Newsnight is a national disgrace and I resent having to pay towards Emily Maitliss vast £300,000 salary. She isn't worth a tenner and should only be paid by those who support her biased politics. I look forward to the coming revenge from Cummings and Johnson. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 May 2020 12.01pm)

The only people being obtuse here are those attempting to defend Cummings/Johnson. If what they have done didn't exist then there wouldn't be anything for the media to report. The responsibility lies solely at the door of No 10. It's simple hypocrisy to try to claim anything else. What he did is worth a fine. That is what we would get and anything more would be double standards and political expediency. You know that full well. The whole affair would have gone unnoticed were it not for certain sections of the media going out of their way to nail him.
