There is no doubt at all that Putin is very accomplished at what he does. He can be strong and he can be charming.

Hitler was pretty good at what he did too. So is Trump.

It's not being accomplished at how anyone does something that is the first consideration.

It's what they do that is.

Putin, like Hitler and like Trump is a bare-faced liar who cannot be trusted. He controls the media so the Russian people only hear his version of events.

Anyone in the West who shows the slightest admiration for him must take a long hard look at themselves. There is nothing admirable in this man.

Suspect that drones will alter warfare in the same way the the machine gun and tanks did. And given that the drones being used at the moment are not much beyond first generation tech, it is quite scary how they might evolve along with counter measures (apparently both sides are using shot-guns against them with some success).

I agree, this is the first battlefield where they now dominate.

As for early counter measures I thought shotguns, and I have seen them used, but as the drones are relatively small and can travel at 100kph it's difficult at the moment the best counter employed by both sides appears to be jamming technology. So it's a bit of a hacking and drone technology arms race.

I heard that small portable radar and anti air turrets are in development. I say small but that's still a big bit of kit to lug around.

I should imagine there will be anti drone drones and development will quicken.

The life of a storm trooper was never a long one but it seems that in this war it's even shorter.

more scary than the buzzing flying drones......must be the stealthy land-based things that crawl toward you. Like something out of a terminator horror movie.

Hitler seems to have spent most of WWII off his t1ts on drugs.

It explains a) his poor judgement & decision making and b) why the Allies reckoned we would win the war quicker by not bumping him off.

i cannot tell if your highlighted text refers to Putin or most of the Leaders in the West. Blair, Merkel, Biden, Trudeau, Macron, Varadkar, Sunak......a rogues gallery.

"Russian oil getting into UK via refinery loophole, reports claim"

Shock, horror,..
The whole sanctions thing was a load of bull5h1t anyways. It just added to the crippling of the UK economy, which was going to ruin anyway.

"A so-called "loophole" means Russian crude is refined in countries such as India and the products sold to the UK.
This is not illegal and does not breach the UK's Russian oil ban, but critics say it undermines sanctions aimed at restricting Russia's war funds." (BBC website)

Tucker Carlson on his impending interview with Putin and on how certain governments and media are working to undermine information access and control access to only one narrative.....which is kind of ironic considering some of their criticisms of Putin.

If freedom means anything, it should be that you are allowed to hear two arguments and make your own mind up on what you support.

It's the bottom video and it pretty much covers a lot of my positions and annoyance in the thread.

Odd that you list all kinds of people's opinions on here, very few of them providing anything else other than guardian style opinion and conjecture. Perhaps the odd half truth if we are lucky but ultimately lazy conclusion relying on the audience like you to just accept rather than question. However despite the lists of internet personalities, dating coaches, disgraced journalists etc you never want to actually listen to anyone from Ukraine despite insisting how both sides should be heard.

If you want to support Russia's 'right' to cancel a whole people , their culture and their history. Go for it mate, it's a free country. It's a shame you can't just be honest and talk about it.
