Play off campaigns are different and there isn’t one in this division, and may not be many if we do get relegated. Relegation battles in our all seater Selhurst did not rival the noise started by the HF and everyone joining in. The loudest noise you got was ‘’Sidddaaaaaaan.’’ The Arthur enclosure had a great atmosphere. Once it was seated in August 1990 the atmosphere died at Selhurst. We had a great season after it was seated, starting with Chelsea midweek, and us finishing 3rd, because the team only needed 2-3 additions to make it really good. Ray, his brother, a few more and some others at the back tried but it wouldn’t rival Whyteleafe for noise. A few away fans would get a slap and a bl00dy face if they got too close but it wasn’t noisy. All seated stadia need organised groups to get an atmosphere. They had it and a drum at Spurs if you didn’t know.

In my humble opinion, the HF made a calculated decision not to continue as before on the basis that their support would be missed by the club, giving them the leverage to get what they want. The narrative appears to be that the HF have thrown toys out of pram by their actions, forced the hand of Steve Parish, got what they desired and as a result forced out loyal and long-standing season ticket holders and this whole matter has proved very divisive amongst our fan base. I think this is about spot on Willo. They clearly are missed. Well done for them for being ballsy about it and giving up their season tickets. Clearly it will divide fans but for the long run it’s the best for the club. The majority are happy. I for one can’t wait for next season. For what it’s worth, I’ve recently started a new job and one of the guys in the office is part of the HF (more fringe really). He tells me they are still attending but are spread out now. Effectively they’re supporting the team the same way as everyone else now.

So it seems the Holmesdale Fanatics/Ultras Even the seriously compromised petition, taken at face value, like this and any other supporter's site, does not represent anything like the "majority of supporters". None of them represent anything more than a tiny minority (albeit more than the very tiny minority the HF represent) of the total support. A survey by the club of existing ST holders would have been a more accurate gauge of real opinion, but Parish has demonstrated beyond doubt that he has no interest in the views of loyal supporters that don't fit with his own warped view of 'support'.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Parish has shown he can panic and get himself into an utter bind in trying to do what he thinks is best for the club. I bet he's full of private regret for the pig's ear he's made of it in terms of process, communication & fact finding. I do believe a singing section -- next season -- would have majority support. But clearly nobody truly knows what most fans would like. And it would be excruciating for there to be a survey now.

But clearly nobody truly knows what most fans would like. And it would be excruciating for there to be a survey now. I believe the issue is not about whether a 'Singing section' has majority support, there is disquiet about the actions of the HF and the club. I suspect the fact that they have decided not to continue in their current form in Block B is viewed as them throwing a strop and 'Going on strike' trying to force the hand of the club, getting what they want and in doing so resulting in scores of loyal season-ticket holders, having to give up their seats many of whom have probably had them for many a year. Not forgetting that those in adjacent blocks might have their sight lines affected by the persistent standing of the HF which is against ground regulations and which the club does not enforce in this instance. There are many long-term season ticket holders at Selhurst Park and they cannot abide their fellow supporters having to be 'Evicted' in such circumstances. I get the impression that perhaps many view the HF as attendees who have leapt on to a bandwagon and whose numbers would greatly decrease should the club be relegated whilst loyal supporters would continue to renew their tickets as they have done season on season. They might be wrong of course. One suspects that supporters have no objection to parts of the ground where support is highly visible and vocal, they are simply in a lather about the circumstances surrounding the latest events for the reasons I have highlighted above.
