WH should have had this covered unless he was unsighted. He seemed slow to get down. Shot wasn't bad but nothing spectacular. I'd rather take the word of people who have actually played the game at top level who thought the shot as spectacular. Go and watch the highlights on the CPFC Official site, you will see that Eriksen was left unmarked and had all the time in the world to pick his spot. To be honest if I was a pro keeper of PL standard reading this forum I wouldn't come anywhere near Palace knowing that too many fans? blame the keeper for every goal scored by the opposition.

When De Gea first came to Man Utd he conceded a few from distance. He came with an eye problem - he wears glasses and wears contacts when he is playing and the feeling was that this contributed to him letting in shots from way out. Key words: First and Early.

Out of interest, why is the top corner ok but not the bottom? FWIW I have only watched the goal at the game and my initial thought was he could have done better. Most pundits seem to think it was a great strike and there wasn't much he could do Same, only saw the goal at the game and it looked like a thunderous shot to me.

That Erikson shot had movement, he misjudged it, simple. However, he hasn't filled me with confidence the way Martyn did, Clarke came close, as has speroni, naturally. New keeper needed.

Are you saying they would think Palace fans are a unique band of goalkeeper-hating freaks? To be fair...

Some are saying that at 6ft 6ins Hennessey has a long stretch and as the shot was from way out he should have saved it.Others are praising the shot and dip and the fact that he might have seen it late due to a player blocking his view.Polarised views ! Fact remains that those who allowed Eriksen the time and space to shoot as he did are not coming in for any criticism at all ! Eriksen is very good at finding space in the 'Hole' and can be deadly from here with his shot yet he was allowed to punish us.Possibly fatigue both mentally and physically but nonetheless he should have been closed down.

It was not "thunderous" it was not a "spectacular" strike, speculative maybe. From that distance an easy foot inside the post and not travelling at light speed it should have been saved. In fact in my humble opinion 90 Percent of the keepers in the Prem save that. As for being unsighted he had one player between him and the ball, so by that rational his positing was suspect. Don't get me wrong he has improved, but not enough. For me he will be replaced in the summer, Joe Hart anyone ? 3 key positions need improving this summer, GK RB and an attacking midfielder.

I suspect that Hart will have his sights somewhat higher than our club. Besides I suspect the price and his wage demands would be prohibitive.

Might fancy a loan for a season back in the Prem to put himself in the shop window. Could give us that little bit longer to shop around for a long term number 1.

Don't blame Hennessey for the goal, blame Cabaye who mad a feeble tackle in the build up.
Let's keep the ball this season! |
