Err yes. He lost his job but not satisfied some in Parliament still want his head, like anyone he is entitled to a defence and as this is not a criminal matter and solely a matter within parliament then yes the taxpayer should fund it.

The better question should be why is Parliament spending our money kicking a dead cat.

He probably is guilty but just like the obsession with Trump some people would rather waste time and money on this than on fixing the many problems this country has.

It isn’t a court of law

He could tell the truth instead of mounting a smokescreen defence using the most expensive lawyers in the country.

And no, the taxpayer should not fund this.

Oh, and don’t forget that cats have nine lives. Something Mr Johnson is determined to prove. Presumably you aren’t bothered if a Prime Minister lies to Parliament then, no need to take action.

How about everyone that arrives with no documentation is deemed to be Rwandan

Glad to see you are keeping an open mind, he hasn't even given evidence yet and you have decided he is guilty.

If their claims stands up, they are allowed back. If not, returned to where they come from or else remain in Rwanda until such time as their return can be happen.

But the issue is, that just the fact of being immediately flown out stops them coming in the first place. It works. The model is based on what the Australians did and it worked.

However, Sunak has ZERO intention of this happening. It is as simple as that. All this tough talk is pure politicking. Literal window dressing.

Creating an illusion, primarily to put the kibosh on any internal Tory moves to bring Johnson back. Because Johnson might deny Labour victory come the next election. And that is not allowed to happen.

Sunak is a place-holder. Keeping the seat warm for Starmer. Who will then engineer us back into the EU within 5 years of taking office (my own bet would be a 'second' referendum in 2026, probably in the September meaning they can argue we have had a decade to see if we have changed our minds).

Only just read this.

This is a conspiracy theory that I so want to believe is true!

Made my day. It's common sense and at last something optimistic to look forward to.

Every single Somalian I met was from Mogadishu. That's funny I said, name some towns near to Mogadishu. Name any other town or city in Somalia. Name a district perhaps? Some mountains? A desert? Silence.
Although I will say maybe one out of fifty is from Somalia or nearby.
The point is they're all coached to say Somalia - they've heard we won't send Somalians away. But the coaching is not exactly MI5 level stuff. It really doesn't take any interrogation.
Two I had recently with pakistani Cricket players' names gave me a bit of a laugh. One was Abdul Q'adir, the other Inzamman Al Huq. I'm in Ireland - I told them I come from England and follow the cricket. They just laughed. I'm an education officer - not immigration, as I remind them each week. They don't need to lie to me and I see straight through it as I'm so used to it.
Had one woman claiming to be Somali telling me how she used to work as a card dealer at Vegas. She's nothing like Somalian - she has the obligatory two phones. Have a think yourself why you need two expensive mobiles. You are selling services.

Boris is of course a liar, as are many politicians. Though most may not have been clinking a glass at a party (when lying about it) while they banned you from visiting your dying relatives in hospital, or indeed leaving your house.

Absolutely hysterical that anyone thinks it's a waste of effort finding out whether our PM lied to Parliament.

Follow that line to the next Putin, Bolsonaro or Erdogan.

I remember the guidance at the time being clear that e.g. leaving parties weren't necessary for work and therefore not excluded from the COVID requirements. How come that now seems to be in question? Every other employer in the country knew it, the guy that wrote it did not. Apparently.

Which Prime Minister has been sanctioned for knowingly lying?
