So much for democracy. The people voted out, yet c***s like Maugham, Clegg and their ilk refuse to accept it, doing all they can to put spanners in the works to try and overturn it. I just wish they would accept the result of the referendum and f*** off back to whatever stone they lurked under.

May should order a snap general election with a mandate to get us out of the eu. With the state of Labour under Corbynachov, she'll win by a country mile and that'll put an end to any chance of Maugham & co's attempts to block our triggering article 50.

Of course, should that happen, the "celebs", vociferous remoaners and has been politcos like Clegg and Blair would publicly wet their knickers, grizzle and stamp their feet in outrage, and demand a revote, but that would just be background noise and easily ignored.

Perhaps a branch of this post for those still stuck in the 70s?

You are also correct here - Jolyon Maugham QC (considered "the biggest **** in the Inns of Court) has been non-stop looking for ways to derail or wreck government plans. Here's his latest:

Of course, I'm not a constitutional expert, but last I checked, the EU (and generally, international treaties) are not devolved matters. That doesn't stop prikcs like Maugham attempting to subvert the clear (and it *is* clear - all that is needed is 50% + 1 vote) message the UK electorate has sent the political class.

So Matthew, as you are the font of all knowledge and such a caring social equality guru, the 36% of C2s and DEs who voted Remain; the very working class you suddenly seem to care so much about now. Are their wishes to be ignored ? It is a case of 'tough titties' for them? How can they be represented in this brave new world of your's?

You are twisting my words, deliberately, because you cannot answer a series of points I have made on here recently.

Why are you suddenly so enthralled with statistics provided by the establishment agencies you claim to oppose? It's bizarre.

You're blaming people with close to no say in any of this. May could put it to a vote right now if she wanted and be done with it. She doesn't want to because she'd quite like the supreme court to throw a spanner in the works. That is fast becoming my take on it and also the thinking behind why many senior tories are calling on her to drop her appeal.

I don't think she has the ability to listen to her advisers she is a tin-pot dictator but she will be reigned in even if she avoids parliament when the negotiations take place as she may get nothing at all.

These senior tories are realising its not necessarily good to win and one thing I noticed is that if they do then the Article 50 will become revocable so can be discontinued at any time in the 2 years. hardly what the brexiters want.

Still 'batting for Britain' eh etc. etc.

You can't answer the questions put to you then. In short, you represent everything we need to know about those clamouring for Brexit and its future implementation. Absolutely clueless.

Could have just done it on a toss of a coin. Arguments for implementing the winning toss would not have been so different.

Yes, Kermit. They should be ignored, insofar as the referendum represents the democratic mandate of the electorate that must then be executed. We see now, the latter part of this statement is where the oh-so-familiar pro-EU anti-democrats now pin their hopes. Disregarding anti-EU votes *is* quite a norm amongst your lot.

Decrying the intelligence of the majority electorate, the evil deviants that misled them, the (grumble something grumble) undemocratic (or something - I lose track and interest at this stage) antics of nasty ignorant people... oh and it's all just so unfair! Utterly pathetic hallmarks of a lost argument.

The referendum question, I'm sure you'll agree, was binary. There was no "would you like to stay 48.1% in?". It was binary. Yes. No. And that's how binary choices are made, my simple chap. Those that do not carry the majority (50% +1 vote, at minimum) do not get their wishes. Sorry, not sorry. I'm sure we do have something in common though? Whilst not applicable to referenda, you did vote "Yes" to AV, right? Because the sad reality you've now encountered happens each and every time we go to the ballot and cast our vote for a candidate or political belief not held by over 50% of our fellow voters in the area we live in.

Luckily no one had the option to vote against EU membership at any election between 1975 and 2016. Or change the voting structure in teh UK during that period either.
