That's right. After all, we only got a draw at the Etihad because Citeh were missing Haaland and De Bruyne.

Some would say we only got a draw at Citeh, because we were forced into substitutions we wouldn’t normally make. Different people read different things into games although your sarcasm is duly noted.

It follows the general perception on here, if we win the other team we’re crap, if we lose we were crap. It’s that black and white.

Is the grey bit when we draw then?

I don’t see any evidence of people getting carried away with the performance against Brentford.

Just plenty of people like you that can only offer negatives.

To break that winless run I’d have taken an own goal in added time and a 1-0 win. Something to build on.

While I dont always agree with you I could not agree more on this and a couple of other posts you made on this subject.
I personally didn't want Roy to be given another year but whether you like his style of play or not he is a safe pair of hands. there are very few managers you can say that about these days.
Plus none of us know what the club's long term replacement plans are. There have been rumors of Fonseca being favourite. If true it made sense to keep Roy on as Fonseca will walk away from his club when out of contract this summer and the club will not pay compensation. Plus (if he knows the job is going to be offered) he'll be perfecting English, learning about Palace and its current players while identifying realistic incoming targets for the summer to make his appointment hit the ground running.
We'll see what happens but the current moaners need to change the record. Nothing they say is going to change the direction Parish wants to take.

The win against Brentford was just about essential and I was delighted but mainly relieved.

But when we can put a run of 3 or 4 wins on the trot is when I'll start celebrating. One swallow doesn't make a summer and that win doesn't mean that all is now OK.

Both our best players are very vulnerable to injury and to rely soley on their partnership to score with no real plan B is rather risky don't you think.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Substitutions are Roy's blind spot imo, but I hope he will get it.

To play 105 minutes or more not 90 is now uniform, that is 15+ minutes extra, the fittest have an obvious advantage.

Extra players should be part of the plan, integral, not hopefully to kick it off the line or poke it home after being introduced with a few minutes to go.

Roy deserved a change of luck, but that is what it was.

The Win over Brentford did nothing to change my mind. His plan A worked this time - his management was no different to the games vs the last 3. Still he gave youngsters no time. the Game was screaming for Ozoh to get some minutes at 3-1 up. Franca still only gets 5 mins..

Parish has a big call to make. Pay off Hodgson, and get someone else in(would be my call, and best Overall for the future of the club), most likely stay up, but allows him to get to know the team and what he wants/needs before the summer window.. or stick with Hodgson, most likely stay up, and start a fresh when his contract naturally is up.

We're treading water at the moment. If the right man is available now, get him in.

I have heard the view expressed that Mr Hodgson does not have a 'Plan B',his 'Plan A' being a rigid formation, system and tactics.

Contrast this to Carlos Corberan who deploys a number of systems and changes formations in games.Mark Warburton is also a manager who likes to alter his formations within games.
