Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (19 Jun 2023 7.24am) TBH I am not/will not be in the least bit disappointed by the news whereas previous seasons under Roy I almost always wanted for something different (with no anger or hatred I might add). Where we are atm, we had one period of transition, trying to push forward, it started really well and then fell off a cliff. A bit of stability for a while would suit me, I think all the previous commentary on Roy working with different resources now is relevant and it's all certainly preferable to a repeat of the all too familiar 'try new radical style/manager only to be staring down the barrel later in the season looking for an escape plan'. My only negative would be Roy always represents lack of investment in playing staff for me. Hopefully we do spend a little, already have Lerma so one box ticked, Roy brings some consistency and substance to our play and we'll see how we get on. We might also fly under any radar for a pretty steady but unspectacular season and that will make us a more attractive proposition for any potential future manager, who may see us as more stable and less of a circus than we might potentially be. A few players still developing too and Eze as one has testified to Roy's effect on them. It's not as dour as some like to make out IMHO. Edited by Nicholas91 (19 Jun 2023 7.52am)

We played against no top teams other than a mediocre Spurs side under Roy last season and lost that game. For me it will be a case of hoping that the team doesn’t revert to the negative football played when there is a bit of adversity as per the brand of football utilised when we had several strings of poor results in his previous tenure. I guess we will not know until we get into a full season if/when he carries on. He’s not my choice but in the absence of decent alternatives I can understand why Parish might opt for the easy option.

Doesnt surprise me as I bet they listen to him talk bollocks as he knows nothing about football and think I dont want to work for this clown. Roy is desperate to end his retirement so we end up with the scraps as all the decent managers with any ambition turn us down. This is why we need new owners in charge who actually know their football. I bet when Rodgers and Potter met Parish they must have thought this guy looks and sounds like a holiday rep or insurance salesman. Spot on - someone like Todd Boehly for example.

Will probably get more ambition if we were placed back into administration. And no I do not what that to happen I’m just saying. Do you have to spend time thinking over what bollix to post next, or does it just come naturally to you ?

The only reason for appointing Roy should be that we were turned down by more suitable managers but whose to say that the position would be any different next season

Other options include the likes of Lampard and that hasn't always gone well for anyone. Roy is the stability and anyone else is a gamble. I'm not excusing failings from the club to correctly identify the longer term gaffer however I am only commenting as things stand. The reason Roy represents underinvestment in players for me is that he will keep us pretty static, which whilst not exciting is not terrifying either. I suspect we will then 'go again' in trying to get our miracle manager and that could, yet again, fall to sh!t.

I posted a few weeks back that if Roy is re-appointed then it indicated a lack of available transfer funds. It looks like the only way we will be able to buy is to sell first. That would put some established managers off straight away. So circumstances seem to dictate that continuing with Roy and Ray is a pragmatic solution. And gives Paddy more time in the Assistant role, which could be a potential answer in 12 months if Roy steps down.

2 questions, 1, Have we actually been in talks with Rogers or Potter? 2, why do people seem to think its Parish that these managers dont want to work with? just seems quite odd

We have 2 players now representing England, which is mainly down to Roy his man management is a class above Vieiras.
