He has now apologised for a meme he posted with a racial slur towards African people, this was 4 years ago. Edited by Spiderman (19 Nov 2021 8.29am)

Cute how you think I’m the foolish one here. You’ve made a tit of yourself over and over again and have no self-awareness of it despite multiple people telling you. Your first paragraph is correct but it makes him a hypocrite doesn’t it? (See my last post)

You are missing the point as usual. He has been exposed as a total hypocrite and moreover, it brings into question if any wrongs were done to him at all, since he might well have been a willing participant in that kind of environment. Face it. He has made you look utterly stupid. Something that seems to be quite easy to achieve lately.

Claudia Mendoza, co-chief executive of the Jewish Leadership Council, said Rafiq had "undoubtedly" learned a lot since 2011. "There's no doubt that this is massively awkward for Azeem Rafiq," Mendoza wrote on Twitter. "But he's taken full ownership, apologised, and undoubtedly - through his own experiences - learnt a lot about racism since then." Marie van der Zyl, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said: "Azeem Rafiq has suffered terribly at the hands of racists in cricket so he will well understand the hurt this exchange will cause to Jews who have supported him. "His apology certainly seems heartfelt and we have no reason to believe he is not completely sincere."

This all reminds me of that passage in The Bible where an adulteress was being stoned by the crowd on the outskirts of the town. Jesus approached the crowd with his hands aloft and shouted, "Stop. Let he amongst you is without sin be the one to throw the next stone." There was a pause and some murmuring, then a brick sailed out from the crowd and struck the woman on her leg. And Jesus said, "Oh Mother. How could you....."
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

It is an insult to those who have suffered actual racism in the past for this nonsense to be passed off as being the real thing. It is a testament to our time that the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome affects so many dim witted and spineless people.

It is a testament to our time that the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome affects so many dim witted and spineless people. A denial that (other peoples) actual racism still exists in society is in part what perpetuates it. You of course have absolutely no issue on a daily basis believing that anti white racism is real, just as it's clear that for the most part Rafiq only sees his own experienced anti pakistani racism. The one eyed approach explains how you both behave. Even the outcome is similar, in Rafiq's case the OTT nature means that people lose their jobs or fear it, and in your case you're on record as saying that this single example would make you very hesitant to even employ or work with pakistani men in general... which is the most absurd statement to come out of any of this. If someone has experienced racism to the level that it impacts them, it's their right to speak out (without receiving death threats and the like as happened with him), but at the same time it also conveys the pitfalls in basing your entire worldview on your own - or indeed others people race. Lessons all round, with no doubt few willing to take them.
