Still seems to be Silva although he is set to decide between us and Watford. Watford appear to be offering a little more in terms of a financial package.

Last I heard is it is still Silva and he rejected Porto yesterday afternoon and resigned from Hull.

Reports a day or two ago suggested he'd turned down Watford and was on his way to Portugal, so if it's true that he's turned down Porto chances are he's on his way to SE25.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

What does pointy-looking mean?

Like his face is thinning into a point, with a pointy nose...pointy looking. Also lots of nostril on display. And pointy.

I would be very happy with Monk.
The "bad run" was exaggerated, they had finished 8th under Monk the season before and Owners developed unrealistic expectations. They never looked in danger of relegation under Monk and Swansea went down hill after he was sacked and they have never been the same since.
Although I think they now finally have a good Manager in Paul Clement who would also be happy to have as manager.

You never saw anybody his last games then. I did because I was betting on them before or in play and they were truly woeful.

I think pointiness is exactly the kind of criteria Parish and the board will be looking at in making their choice. Smug, bitter AND pointy really isn't a good combination.

I'd like to think that in our fifth top flight season the club could be more ambitious than Gary Monk. We dont know what the finances look like but surely we can attract a higher calibre. Mancini/Lombardo sounds like it could be good.

Parish spoke with Dyche's agent last night but Parish doesn't think he will attract players and we may lose Wilf.

Mancini has not been considered and not sure why he was favourite at one stage.

Monk quitting is a curve ball and I don't think it would be him over Dyche or Silva.

Last I heard is it is still Silva and he rejected Porto yesterday afternoon and resigned from Hull.

If Parish likes Silva, he will be in charge.

This is just what I have been told and thought I might share as we all hopelessly look through social media hoping against hope we learn of the new manager. Don't bother asking me for the source. They've been right for the last 2 days.

I had Warnock at 50/1 last time we were in this situation.

Take it or leave it.

Cheers for the info. Time will tell if you're right or not but I wouldn't be unhappy at all with Silva.

I have a feeling that we may wait till after the playoffs. I wonder if Jaap Stam could be an answer. No premiership experience but ticks all the other boxes for me.

He has played at top level and been managed by some of the best. His performance with Reading suggests some of this has rubbed off

Hope that he fails so that we can nick him? :/

Good analysis and possibly very close to the mark. Monk situation just coincidence. Wenger will probably be out of a job on Saturday night and he definitely isn't coming. Managers are leaving daily this time of the year.

Hmmm...so let's hear your explanation for the Leeds debacle then.

Now appointing Mancini would be one hell of a statement about our intentions!

As long as he realises we are not Citeh but Palace.
