Well. Hundreds of posts here in honour of a great and selfless member of our forum. How do we feel about a small tribute for the Hull game? It need only be a small banner reading "We'll miss you, staffie" or similar. I'm abroad with work for the Hull game, but would be happy to send some cash if someone wants to take it on?

If anyone wishes to do this i have created a very simple graphic.

Hopefully this post won't be considered as self-indulgent, but rather my experiences of staffie, to highlight the generosity of the man.
There are other HOLers with far more experience of staffie as a friend than me. Their experiences count for a lot more than mine,; But for the record,

I joined the HOL about 10 years ago, and being a technophobe, had no idea about how to download files.

It transpired I lived 10 minutes walk away from staffie. He would regularly drop off CD's he had burned, whilst I learnt how to download files.

Sloveniadave first started the 'thankyou' presents to staffie around 2010.
He had a copy of the Steve Coppell book which he brought to the Whitehorse for as many HOLers as possible to sign their gratitude within the covers.
staffie was over-whelmed with the book.
staffie was very reluctant to accept any gifts of gratitude, but did appreciate people saying 'thank you', either by posting , or PM.

Sloveniadave got the ball rolling for me. Over the next couple of years we (thanks to donations by other HOLers) got him a home shirt with 'staffie' on the back, a signed copy of a vinyl "Crime of the Century" by band-member Roger Hodgson (staffie's all-time favourite album).
And finally we got him a ticket for the Play-Off final against Watford.

All of the above we virtually had to force on the man, as he wanted no gifts of appreciation. It was more than enough for HOLers just to post 'thanks'

And like all of us, he could be a miserable bvgger from time to time. And yet he was loved unconditionally by a huge amount of people who didn't even know him.
For fans based abroad this was especially true.

Sorry for rambling.

RIP staffie

You're asking me what it's all about, and I can't tell you because I don't know what's going on myself.

Well said Forest. I was lucky enough to sign the book, I hope his family find the book, and see just how much the man was liked by fellow Palace fans.

Absolutely selfless individual.

A lovely post and some more insight to a man that the majority of us never met but often relied on.
Thanks FH

Already wrote on here but have to again. Still not really sunk in.

So many nice posts on here that just shows howuh of a good person he was.

Just popped into my head about how nice he actually was. After we beat Man U in the cup he downloaded the game and extra time and put them onto dvd. Sent it by post and wouldn't accept anything for IT.

This place really won't be the same without his Match threads, links and music.

Never knew you staffie, but by the heartfelt comments you meant a lot to us HOLers.

I was shocked like a lot of the others.

Make sure god supports the Palace ( there is no capital in god ).

Have been a member of the site for over ten years, can't imagine how many staffie links to radio, streams and all kinds of other things I've benefited from.

Spoke to him over PM a couple of times when I lived abroad and he would send me links to download highlights, as many have said always so happy to help.

Site won't be the same without him.

RIP

Does anyone have a picture of staffie we can send to the club to put up at half time as part of a tribute for the most loved of HOL contributors?

Does anyone have a view on what form a tribute should take this coming Saturday?

I'd be happy to approach Terry Byfield if no one has already.

Alternatively I would be happy to ask Jonny if he would run a small piece in the match day programme. Again it would be nice to have a well written tribute by someone who knew him and a photo if possible.

Thoughts?

In fact just spoke to Jonny (Programme Editor) and they would be happy to put something in the match day Message Board (which this week appeared on P34 of the programme).

However they will need this by tomorrow lunchtime (Wednesday).

Any volunteers to write a nice piece / obituary?

Again if anyone has a picture I'm sure fellow fans and HOLers would be keen to finally see staffie, an enigmatic man who did so much for our community.

I understand that staffie wanted a degree of anonymity while still with us, but as many have said, a pic would be nice.
It doesn't have to be of his 'best side on his best day' or him 'rocking it abroad somewhere', just a simple pic.
All I see when I think of him is ''There's no.........'' which isn't a bad thing at all, but to finally put a face to the name would be better.

RIP big man. This is really really sad.

The Queen supports Crystal Palace. Perhaps she'll buy the club then legitimately all the money in England shall be ours. Plus all the swans.
