Yes, Starmer got a knighthood following his stint as DPP.

Not bad for a state school lad from a family of five children in Southwark.

They f***ing dole out those knighthoods like confetti nowadays so that's no achievement.
The guy is Tony Blair MkII By all accounts he was a total disaster at the DPP.
Isn't it funny how Labour MPs are lauded as 'Working Class' done good yet Conservative MPs from working class backgrounds who achieve some modicum of success are derided as class traitors...

Doesn’t mean a lot. Ted Heath’s dad was a builder.

It's one of the poshest schools in the area and only the privileged could afford and this was in the 80s.

The bloke lived in oxted a very affluent area and his dad the tool maker was the owner of a tool making factory. He's a posh boy and comes from ££££. So Labour will have another rich kid leader. Have Labour in recent years had any real working class leaders? All the people I know who vote Labour are far from working class folk!

Oh. How much did he pay to go to school?

I too passed my 11+ and went to a Direct Grant school.

I always understood DG and VA schools weren’t allowed to charge fees for pupils, I expect you know better

I have no information as to his football allegiance, if indeed he has any.
I have never had a chinwag with the gentleman nor ever likely to engage in any conversation with him.

No. Not at that time. So he was just bright, not rich. No doubt you agree.

So Corbyn leaves as Labour lesder. Meanwhile, in a sign of just how much politics has changed since he started, this is the FT's editorial today.
