I mean, seriously? The BBC should be punishing i.e. sacking the buffoons who carried on paying him; right up to the top. Edwards has every right to say "f*** off" or, indeed, to say nothing at all. Paying the money back won't vindicate him one iota in the eyes of the public; it will merely make the buffoons at the BBC feel better, while demonstrating that they took "decisive action".

It might be like Chuck Connors at the start of Branded and he'll have his divining rod broken over the Arch Druid's knee. I have never EVER met anyone who remembers 'Branded' whereas I frequently hum the theme tune to myself in my head.

That and The Rifleman - Lucas McCain blasting everyone in sight. In retrospect he was a bit of a psycho. All he was missing for the set was Tex McDonald with his frontier hamburger wagon.

And F Troop, but not quite the same genre.

Asking for Edwards to pay back £200,000 ? and doing it very publicly. Appealing to his better nature ? his moral compass ? The BBC followed expert legal advice in steering through Huw's departure. Legally, they did entirely the correct thing. What they didn't do in hiring Huw and having periodic reviews, was pick up on the fact he was a nonce. For that, the BBC are entirely to blame for not having conducted due diligence, at any stage. Leaving it to a newspaper to 'out' him, is also tragically inept journalism. Huw has probably spunked the money anyway, on home security and renewing his membership of the Cub Scouts. Just makes the BBC look a sad and desperate place, not deserving of the licence fee
