Interesting Hunter Biden: Plea deal for president's son collapses in dramatic court hearing [Link] Good for the judge, this was a ridiculous sweetheart deal. Reading the media reports I think the key thing that upset the judge was that this plea deal gives Biden Jnr immunity from any other crimes he has committed but not yet been charged with. She pointed out that this is highly unusual. It's one thing to give someone immunity for crimes they have been charged with but to give a blanket immunity it's like a Presidential pardon. Given that Former FBI agents and Treasury officials have publicly complained that they were stopped from investigating Biden for all sorts of other crimes this is a can of worms. I would only allow immunity against charges where Biden admits his guilt, anything else should not be covered. And one other thing. In the US immunity is only normally granted to a defendant as a means to secure evidence against a bigger fish e.g. street dealer gets a sweetheart deal in return for testifying against a crime lord. What has Biden done to deserve his sweetheart deal? Is he going to give up dad? No didn't think so, so why is he getting a deal he brings nothing to the table.

Awaiting further developments here with interest. Failing to declare a drug habit or conviction on a firearm application is not small beer so to speak. If JB had any idea what was going on he should be very worried Let's Go Brandon

The US 'Department of Justice' announced it would not pursue the disgraced FTX Founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried’s campaign finance-related charges. For clarity most of those were to the Democrat party. Since the Democrats took over America has become a banana republic with air conditioning. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Jul 2023 8.34pm)

Even CNN can't ignore this Politics aside this is shabby behaviour Edited by HKOwen (29 Jul 2023 10.38pm) Edited by HKOwen (29 Jul 2023 10.40pm) Exactly which bit of this statement is shabby? "Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy." Putting the best interests of the child first maybe? Or preserving her privacy as much as possible? Or that it's a family, not a political, issue? Or is it possible that those who want to make political capital out of the problems of a man who happens to be the son of the current POTUS are using the life of a small child for their own purposes? Now that would be shabby, wouldn't it?

Denying your son. Pretty shabby. The timing of the latest charges against Trump just really stinks. I would not consider myself a Trump advocate, but when you look at how the Hunter Biden stuff has been supressed, you cannot ignore the legal/political parallels that are not meant to exist. Trump charged on spurious grounds again and timed to get the Hunter Biden affair out of the headlines. Yet another shameful use of courts for political gain. The land of the free? Only if you have right think.

Edited by Forest Hillbilly (02 Aug 2023 7.18am) I suggest you read the statement again and try to remove the prejudices you hold. Trying to preserve someone’s privacy is not to deny them. Who knows what contact, or indeed support, has existed away from public view. It’s the suggestion it’s shabby, which is shabby. The ideas being so actively promoted by Trump and his supporters about his indictments all being politically motivated whilst Biden is being protected doesn’t last a moment’s objective analysis. Trump often did what he did in clear view. Not indicting him would indicate political motivation and allow the idea that some are above the law. I hope, and doubt, whether their Justice Department would ever allow an accusation of deliberately timing events to favour anyone politically to have any merit. It would be foolish in the extreme because given the chance forensic analysis would be undertaken. So I doubt it’s real, but just more excuses by Trump, which seem to always be believed by his gullible base. I don’t think they will be here by many. We are clearer sighted. The situation with Biden is very different, despite all the mud slinging. His son’s problems are well documented but they are his son’s, not his. The assertions of him being involved have not even brought charges, let alone convictions, but even if every one of them were true and resulted in Biden being shown as using his political position for personal enrichment the scale of what Trump is accused of is of an entirely different magnitude. No-one is accusing Biden of attempting to undermine and corrupt democracy itself, whilst Trump has been a mega grifter throughout his life and now is so accused. I think the Republicans are not thinking straight. They need the independents to win the Presidency back and they won’t vote again for Trump. They may not vote again for Biden in the same numbers but I still believe he won’t actually run and we will have another Democrat.

Just seeing this morning how thousands of immigrants are flooding the US borders causing chaos in Texas and Arizona, Biden is having them trucked to so called sanctuaries in big cities overnight so they are spread out and less noticeable. It seems clear to me that these people are being allowed in so they become potential Democrat voters. Trump's border policy was pretty good. That has been abandoned. I'm afraid that the only conclusion to draw is that the elites are once again manipulating politics for their own ends.

Pretty much everything Trump said would happen if Biden was elected has happened. America is in trouble in several metrics and it's a serious problem for everybody.
