Going back to the coronavirus. Gatwick Airport staff have been told they have to wear face masks around the airport, these will be supplied free of charge until June, when they will be available in vending machines at cost! Odds on staff buying several each day?

Odds on staff buying several each day? You'd think by now mask production would be ramped up to sky high levels. If they want their staff to wear masks, which is clearly a sensible step, they should be permanently free as part of the job. In other Coronavirus news it sounds like markets and fetes will soon be back [Link]

The press conference will change little, people who were supporting him before will continue to, people who weren't will continue to.
I was neither for nor against him before but having watched him being savaged by the pack of dogs I am for him now. The media, commencing with Kuenssberg obviously didn't listen to what he said at all as she already had her lines of attack at the ready irrelevant of what he said. The people are supposedly up in arms but if the truth be known it's mainly because the BBC have been continually fanning the flames. I think that when the virus problems take a back seat Boris and Dominic will move the BBC licence fee higher up the agenda

Haven’t heard what will happen to those without masks, presumably removal of airport pass therefore no job. If this is necessary perhaps it is not safe for airports to be open

I'm not as health and safety crazed as some, but if they're going to preach to employees that they need to remain safe in their line of work, forcing them to pay for it themselves isn't right. News just in by the way, that all non essential shops are to open from June 15th Edited by BlueJay (25 May 2020 8.03pm)

We all know the BBC are hated on here for their obvious not lefty bias but watch the conference again. She was relatively measured I forgot Pestons question by the time he had finished it but the woman from Sky was a blow hard attack dog. Perhaps all broadcast media are left wing save Fox or those right wing sites who just say what you want to hear? However this BBC bias crap on here is getting boring and not any truer. PC and annoyingly inclusive yes but that is imposed by law. If you want to change that speak to your MP.

I have no bias from being a “foot soldier”, a term I find a tad insulting. I have seen enough in my time to say that the MAJORITY of senior civil servants are incompetent/arrogant. They move from department to department so build up no experience in any particular field Firstly, I didn't describe you as a "foot soldier". I merely used an analogy. I have no idea what rank you rose to. Secondly, you have now modified your assertion to the majority, which although extremely unlikely also allows the possibility that 49% are competent. In my experience most senior managers in any business can transfer their skills to another related, but not identical one. What's required is a grasp of man-management, resource allocation, time scales and budgetary control etc etc. The detail is delegated to the specialists who work for you. Routinely changing such people keeps the departments fresh and from complacency setting in.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The media over Cummings shouldn't be able to just shrug off their behaviour. They have presented hearsay as factual evidence. They have written headlines, which they know most readers don't read beyond....they have written headlines that present unproven claims as statements. Dirty dirty smear merchants and their reputation is richly deserved. Less the forth estate and more a grubby, unkempt and smelly bungalow. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 May 2020 9.55pm)
