I think there are countless examples to the contrary.

Not for this one.

Any politician, especially a PM and even more so a PM in the middle of an election campaign has every single day not only planned out in advance but the impact of every action contemplated by a lot of people around them.

With this particular day, pencilled in since Sunak even took office. Just the security considerations alone must have meant people were planning this for months.

Just the idea of leaving it early, and during a GE campaign to boot, is just beyond any kind of rational comprehension. Going far beyond the sort of normal everyday stupidity.

I have seen people compare this to Gordan Browns unscripted moment when he called that woman a bigot over immigration. That was a mistake. This...goes way beyond that.

Of every British politician who attended, Sunak was the one with the most to lose by not paying it the sort of respect it requires. I cannot countenance any kind of rationale that thinks his behaviour was anything other than self-destructive.

It just does not add up.

indeed, even Tory MP's are exhibiting disquiet over the D-day thing. and former Tory MP's I would say are verging on hostile.

News crews were interviewing people in Aldershot today, and for a PM championing National Service for the working class a few days ago, this seems to be a major miscalculation. Or as Matov is suggesting, deliberate sabotage.

This was a major photo opportunity for being pictured with other World Leaders. They really don't come bigger than that.

I disengage, I turn the page.

So many different factors that meant this day could ONLY have been seen as a must attend for every part of it. No if's or but's. Unless you REALLY want to f*** up your election chances.

Saw a tweet today that says here we have a PM pushing national service and yet bows out of these D-Day commemorations?

Beyond stupidity and into the realms of sinister.

Have to disagree. Nobody can reach Westminster and genuinely be that stupid. There are conventions in politics about events that are sacrosanct. This was one of them. An absolute, multiple underlined, must attend no matter what.

This is deliberate. These Torie b******s are throwing this election. No ifs, no buts. I have bored enough with my own reasons for the why but even if I am totally wrong on that, there is still something else out there that the Tories want not only out of Number 10 but not even able to be the mix when the s*** hits the fan
The Tories are an institutional electoral machine. This is now beyond sinister and totally uncharted waters.

Yes, they’re throwing it so someday else gets the flack. The Tories tried something similar in the early days of the Brexit debate hoping to lose the election so that Labour would have to deal with it…but they stayed in power.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

So what’s coming down the road ?
I’m beginning to get your theory btw.

BBC Leader's Election debate. My takeaways

Waste of time having SNP and Plaid Cymru who are not putting up candidates nationwide, let them be on BBc Scotland and Wales.

Camera constantly panned to audience members who were agreeing with Labour and disagreeing with Morduant and Farage .

Liked Farage's autocue comment.

Kudos to Morduant for bashing Sunak but likely for her ambitions as future leader.

Rayner just a talking head, weak on numbers, voted against Trident and showed her basic lack of education wither her " abstract failure" remark.

Don't think the debate will have done much to move the dial as Conservatives already toast.

Farage's comments on crime were good, he expanded knife crime to the wider issue of organised drug crime. I suspect many mothers of dead sons in drug related crime would welcome stop and search.

The NHS debate has to focus on making it better and more efficient, Streeting has good ideas on this, it has to be a service not a religion

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I watched that complete shower last night, wouldn't pick any of them but enough about the football.

Here is the party manifesto for the UniParty.

- We will fix immigration
- We will fix the NHS
- We will cut taxes and reward working people
- We will spend more on defence
= Will will increase benefits
- We will protect workers rights
- We will clamp down on unions
- We will protect the environment
- We will abolish ULEZ and LTN
- etc.

Now over to our first caller

Caller: How exactly are you going to do all these things?

Uniparty: Please see the above.

Caller: But that's just a list of conflicting promises, you haven't answered my question. Hello, hello are you still there?

Why anyone pays a single moment of attention to this garbage is a mystery.

Electioneering is just a procession of politicians making hollow promises.
It is a method by which they can get very stupid, young and or naive people to put a cross next to their name every five years so that they have better career prospects.

I'm voting Reform because I will never vote Labour and the Tories allowed millions more immigrants to come here despite public opinion and ever increasing terrorism, crime, and cultural destruction.

It's that simple.

If you fix immigration you fix most of the issues.

Immigration is a strain on NHS and vital services.
Our taxes won't be going on immigrant benefits.
Housing will also get better and drive down prices.
It also fixes a lot of crime.
I'm sure there is much more.

Immigration is fixing most of the issues.

The NHS is being staffed and the strain reduced
The new workers are paying much more tax and NI than the benefits they claim.
Housing for workers is always required. Unless you shrink the economy.
There is no evidence that suggests immigration has any impact on crime. It’s a myth.
I am sure there is much more.

If Sunak is still heading the Tory election campaign by the end of Tuesday night, then it is not only a loss for them but potentially the end of it all together.

If he is still in charge, then it is clear they are not willing to save themselves.

They either move in the next 48 hours, and I have no real clue how they will then save the ship from sinking nor arrange how it then work, or else it is potentially the end of the show.

But they HAVE to show willingness at least. This election came as a massive surprise to the vast majority of Tory MP's. Their own lead election strategist was against it.

Sunak is a literal double agent. Put in place to sink this Government. If he stays, then this will just become farce. And we get lumbered with a PM who is even more venal.

Still don't know if I can bring myself to vote for Reform given how cucked they have been by HnH.
