Greta got a lot of media attention because she is backed by powerful people that is the reason why so many of these are getting away with these stunts any normal person does this they would be in trouble. Agreed. There was moment where due to Greta and the school kids demonstrations the Green agenda was getting the media attention and the public was interested. That was the time for a leader to step forward and move the Green campaign into mainstream politics. Instead of doing practical things that the public could understand and get behind we had the idiots stopping people getting to hospital and damaging beloved artwork. This rapidly upset the public and any good will was lost. I feel sorry for the more responsible green campaigners that must have been weeping into their vegan lattes as their moment was just pissed up against the wall. I'm not saying it won't come again and I am not necessarily blaming Greta but until they have a Blair (1997) like figure they will just be a nuisance to the rest of us and achieve nothing. A mass boycott of Coca Cola and that company would soon be producing their fizzy drinks in cartons in months. Boycotting the Oil companies is a little harder as we all depend on it and it will take years to switch, that's why I suggested going after plastic bottles. Edited by Badger11 (17 May 2024 7.33pm)

Another example of the loony Greens. It's one thing to kick someone out of your party if they declare they love fossil fuels, I get that is incompatible with your core values. This however....

Anyone still denying the reality of climate change is beyond help. They will need to be ignored as we move forward. We really cannot waste time having stupid arguments over something so important.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I wonder if the inhabitants of Europe went around vandalising cave paintings when the ice bridge melted
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

On the Post EU thread I have mentioned we should keep an eye on the Green parties across Europe. The pundit I read has predicted that people are fed up with the high costs of going green, anyway we will see.

The self interest of those already too old to be impacted personally can override good sense. Which is why politicians must deliver what people need, and not what they want.

It's about self interest. Most people would not be happy living in poverty so their neighbour can swan around in a new luxury car. Until the big polluters who are all outside of the EU start to do something that is what the voters are being asked to do. Most people are in favour of saving the planet but when your neighbour doesn't give a damn I think they draw the line. Anyway I it's not about my opinion or yours. The question I have asked the Hol is to keep an eye on the results we can then dissect them when they are known.

Apparently it was the warmest may on records. Obviously I don't believe a word of it. I had the heating on and had jumpers and warm coats on throughout. It was the coldest May I can remember for a long time.
