Roy out is a very stupid thread,we are fifth in the table .Do not post unless you claim to have more footballing knowledge than him, I know that many of you have obviously managed a multitude of different countries. Why post here if you don’t believe he should go? There is a Roy In thread for you that would be happy to receive your blessing. You can post your support for anti-football there.

Right now it appears that Hodgson is managing to get us enough points to stay up but doing so in an utterly turgid manner. Like eating Pasta and tomato sauce every single meal. It will keep you alive but you won't enjoy it. If that's enough for you then fine, he's doing great. When we were first promoted and for a fair few seasons after that would be enough. But with the players we have and in our eighth season I think we should be aiming higher. Brighton was the low point, today only seems better because Fulham are terrible. The last 7 games of last season on top suggests a worrying trend. We rode our luck against Southampton, played a terrible Man Utd team and got a ridiculous penalty that ensured we won. All the danger signs are there, and the very best we can hope for is not getting relegated by playing terrible anti-football. I used to dread the WBA game every season as they time-wasted from minute 1, tried everything to kill the game. That was us against Brighton, it will be us against everyone who isn't utter rubbish.
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |

Any manager is only six poor performances or results from the sack and Roy is no different. There was also good reason to question him after the end of last season. His critics were screaming for a change from 433 with three "defensive" midfield players. That he should put Mitchell and Riedewald in the team and that Luka should be dropped. He's done all of those things, got 10 points from a difficult looking opening six games and found a way to get a tune out of a player who wants out. The lack of response against Chelsea and last week against Brighton were unacceptable but not enough to justify some of the utter bollocks that has been thrown out.

I think the mass complaints reflects a build up of resentment towards the poor style of-football over the last 2 years. Since RLC and Cabaye have gone really. Our awful home form has been a cause for concern for a long time and a bit of a kick in the teeth for season ticket holders like me. I have never accepted the basic premise that we need to play like a Tony Pulis team. I couldn’t understand why Jairo wasn’t seen again after the amazing draw against Man City and last season when he filled in for PvA. And during lock down Roy’s formula was found badly wanting. Of maybe it was the lack of new players. It’s his last season and we may regret his retirement. But I would be alarmed if he got another extension.

I agree with your views and analysis. The Brighton game was the pits; Roy should have been cross or conciliatory. No, he was relatively happy. We are vulnerable to some more kickings like Chelsea gave us.

I think we all need to get a sense of perspective here. We've just managed to beat a newly promoted side away from home who are bottom of the league 1-2, with 34% possession and a style of football that makes your teeth itch and this is after 8 seasons in the premier league and over at least £1bn of winnings... By the way, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I literally couldn’t care less if we had 1% or 99% possession. The only stat that matters is that we scored 2 and Fulham scored 1. Another stat is we have 10 points from six games and are 5th in the best division in the world - thats perspective. There are no easy away wins in the Premier League. The team is so well drilled, playing for the manager and hard to beat and that is why we win games. It’s a recipe for success. Football is a results based industry and Roy gets results and he is going nowhere. Pardew was the polar opposite to Roy (for the record I think both managers on the whole were excellent for Palace) but then you’ll get people moaning that we’re conceding too many goals and we’re too easy to beat.

Crystal Palace haven’t been in the relegation zone since match day 31 of 2017/2018 season. That’s 2 and a half years. Only 7 other teams have longer records. Source CPFC analytics. - We were the 17th biggest spenders in the summer transfer window If Roy was to leave, who is going to to work within these tight financial conditions and get results. Who? We are 5th in the premier league. We have had a better start than Chelsea who have spent 250million. We are 9 points above the drop zone and fans want the manager out. Laughable. We are in the middle of a pandemic and now more than ever, the goal is to stay in the league. The EFL need a bailout or clubs will go under. If we went down, it could be trouble. So how about we get behind the guy before he retires and be grateful for the work he has done.

By the way, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. We've won 7 games since Christmas. Only 1 by more than a goal. 2 of those sides were relegated. Plan A worked early on again yesterday. A Zaha goal and assist bailed us out. Yet still faces criticism from many. How has Reidewald not had a look in for the last 3 years? A 2-1 win vs a team just promoted that had the shortest time to prepare for the premier league out of any team in history doesn't vindicate the manager of an established premier league side. But he should be congratulated on delivering a result. Bring on Wolves on Friday. They've been particularly unimpressive this season. Let's see if we've improved from the 0-2 last season.
