People are sleeping on and seriously underestimating what's happening with the BRICS. We now have two competing blocs -Global American Empire vs BRICS That breakdown is a negative for all of us. Still no update on Gonzalo Lira since the Ukrainians arrested him attempting to flee the country. He holds a US passport and his crime is criticising the Ukrainian regime. The US lies about defending free speech. It only talks about defending the free speech that its current administration agrees with.

The US has a long track record of passionately supporting the right to free speech at home while paradoxically supporting regimes elsewhere who very much don't. On Ukraine I am split. On one level I back their resistance to Russia for more reasons than I have space to give here. On another, I would very much like Ukraine to have a better government. The historic parallel that comes to mind is WWII Poland. An awful military junta before the panzers rolled in. An inconvenient fact conveniently forgotten given it was the poor Poles who were crushed between two deadly superpowers. I guess my point is that you can say what you like about the Ukraine government, but thoughts should really be with the Ukraine people.
