I'll keep it simple - a player can only be owned by 1 club at a time. Sorloth is owned by Palace so all negotiations should be with us. A bit like a house owner renting his home out and then decides to sell. Clearly the loan deal adds a complication but it doesn't change the fact, Sorloth is our player. Yes people are reasonably happy we are almost getting our money back (we paid adds on for staying up in seasons 1 and 2) and it is clearly better than the 6m Euro deal but we have proved yet again poor negotiators. Don't bother replying, your opinion is irrelevant It’s like a Schrodinger’s Cat situation where he’s partly ours and partly theirs.

As Sorloth had already refused to return to Turkey he broke the loan not Palace. I am amazed we have agreed a 50:50 split. The Turks paid £5m for a 2 year loan which predominantly just covers his wages. I suspect this was being paid in installments too. I am amazed we've paid them more than £5m to cover that payment. Anybody who says this is a good deal knows nothing about contract law - and there were many on here who thought we'd get zero only a few weeks ago I’d imagine the football club know a fair bit more than you about the ins and outs of the contract. The fact is that Trabzonspor had an option to buy now or an obligation to buy should he play more than 50% of next seasons games. So in essence he was their player for 6 million. Plus they would be due compensation if the loan was broken because we have already received a loan fee. To avoid a protracted dispute involving 2 clubs and an unhappy player it’s easier for all parties to just split the profits and sell while his value is high. We keep the loan fee which was about 4 million and then get 10 more which covers his transfer and the bonuses we owed. Trabzonspor get 10 as well which means they get 6 after the loan fee. Everyone is happy, they get to say it’s 50/50 and clear some of their debts and we get 14 million for a player we paid near enough 14 million for.

OK end of bell, if you want to go down that road. If you could read properly you would see I have separated the original loan documents from any others relating to sale transaction by use of a comma and the word "or ". Others on here have highlighted what a complete knob you are so no need for me to go there. I pity anyone who has to actually engage with you in person. COYP Originally posted by palace99
what a stupid comment. Clearly there was no clause re distribution of proceeds re a sell as if there was there would be no need to negotiate the split. It is due to not having these clauses that has created the complications. How hard is it to understand that???
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

What a rude and patronising response. You have absolutely no idea what was or was not in the contract and the negotiations could have been for any number of reasons. If you wish to patronise people kindly make sure that you are on solid ground first to avoid ending up looking like a dork

You don't apply that principal to Schlupp, who you loved to tell everyone only completed one pass against Southampton, which nobody believed. Following Saturday, he was awesome and many peoples MOM.

I don’t think he is a very good football player. I know he set up Townsend perfectly on Saturday for his goal and il take my hat off to him for his effort but nearly everything he did after that resulted in him losing the ball at the end. In my view there is no point in beating 3 men then giving the ball away, it may catch the eye of the fans but it’s pointless if it ends up with giving the ball away. I can see why Roy plays him and we always look more balanced as a team because he is left footed but in my opinion he is a squad player not regular starter. Do you think I just make up random facts about Jeff Schlupp to make myself feel good? He completed 1 pass against Southampton and that is a fact. Thiago completed 75 for Liverpool yesterday in 1 half of football.

Hi I'm sorry, but how do you get access to such information that is so personal. Clearly Roy is a well respected and competent manager who understands every aspect of game and how it is played, therefore to say he does not understand the role of a No:9 is unkind, unjust and unwarranted.

Thiago stat is totally irrelevant, more relevant to Chelsea as it was more than their managed as a team.

In a thousand years from now, the Sorloth transfer saga will be taught to BA students, in the same way as Beowulf is now.

Nothing has ever really added up in this whole saga. Not this form with us. Not his form at Ghent. Not his form in Turkey. Not the conditions of his loan. So why would this deal have been any different.?
