It would be a good move by Parish Roy or Wilf himself to either confirm or deny the rumours , and put us all out of our misery.

No because the board have to understand they need to sign players or players and managers understandably get the right hump and think about leaving. This is why it’s going on and how it can end.

I would have thought that if being in the CL were the be all and end all of football then players would be queueing to join Celtic - guaranteed CL, cheap as chips, piss poor money and a s***e domestic league, but hey, guaranteed CL. Oh, and the fans are something else.

If Sky ask the guy and he says I have not asked to leave then what more can you do?
Obviously, if he is after a better contract then he will be happy for people to speculate. You would be dumb not to.

I have just listened to Sky Sports news, a minute ago and what they are actually saying is that "we are told that Zaha has not asked to leave the club" (no source given). That is entirely different to your spin and doesn't rank what they're saying above the half dozen newspapers that are saying something different.

Can’t sell him and we’re paying him the wage we didn’t plan to beyond June 2019 of multiple players

what if we sold zaha got relegated didnt go back up & went into administration again?

there are so many what if’s in life.

way i see it is that of wilf signs another new contract it gives us even more bargaining power.

what does allowing wilf to leave say to potential signings & existing players?

the facts are is the lad is invaluable to us, if we sell him we cant attract his calibre to the club, neither could we afford to! i dont know if he would signa new contract, but ts worth pushing the question with a few extra quid to keep the lad happy!

btw, i would not have this POV about any other player.

And I've just been listening to the rather less erudite TalkSh!te and they were reckoning that Watford were proposing to sell Richarlison to Everton for £50m.

Now my memory may not be great but ISTR that for most of last season Richarlison was total and utter s***e.

So if they take Richarlison, especially for that kind of sum, they will not be coming in for Zaha, and Spurs are reputedly not interested. And £50m!

If it’s true that Wilf wants to leave I am astonished because it seems as if he has been leading us up the garden path. Appreciate he wants to further his career but why has he been tell us how happy he is at Palace and furthermore that it is where he belongs.
He has been at pains to express his love for the club.
I have a word for this behaviour which I am not allowed to use.
Nothing wrong in being ambitious so if reports true wish him all the best and thank him for all those magic moments but...

I really would not begrudge Wilf a move to a club with far greater ambitions than ours and unfortunately, to date, we have gone backwards this window.

I would prefer he went abroad though as the thought of him rocking up against us this season is horrific.

I think we'd be in real danger of going down this season without him.

I'm sure I read we are due to give MUFC 25% of any profit made on any sale too so if we get £60 mil and we have to give over 10 of that to MUFC it still doesn't leave us in a great position.

You can be happy with your job and feel it's where you belong - however if you think you can do better there's nothing wrong with that.

Good luck to Zaha, with ability like his he shouldn't be in annual relegation dog fights.

You'd hope if and when he goes the club will have replacements lined up. I've heard no rumours of replacements as I really don't see Schurrle or Sissoko as reasonable options. You'd have to be talking about players like Arnautovic or similar quality and that's clearly not happening. For that reason I can't see the club selling. I'll change my mind if we see believable rumours concerning replacements. Even if he wants to go we don't need to sell. Wilf seems up love playing football so I can't see him doing a Berahino, so will give his all even if we block a move this window.

my theory: agent spin that he's asked to leave, to make clear he wants away. in actual fact, he hasn't, because there's a financial consequence in asking to leave.

Tbf I’ll be sad if wilf leaves but we can’t stand in his way. He is too good for us and deserves another shot st the big time. He has carried the club more than he should and it’s up to Roy and the coaching staff to adapt. We can’t hold onto wilf forever, he will leave at some point.

We won’t be the same team without him but we can’t keep clinging on to one man.

There’s no smoke without fire imo and clearly something in these rumours. As an earlier poster said, let’s get a deal done asap so we can move on and get signing players
