Always wary of managers who have been at big teams. It means they have had big budgets and there is always the possibility they look good because of the quality of players in their squads rather than their own ability. Benitez has been with big teams but has done well at Newcastle on a limited budget

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Gary Monk' by Guntrisoft Agree on Monks style of play not suited to when the wheels come off and doesn't have a plan B Saying that it's vital for our game I feel that we give British / English managers a chance to manage at this level , the only problem is the risk Edited by Surrey Hills (25 May 2017 3.28pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Gary Monk' by Guntrisoft I quite like the guy and he did a decent job up to a point at Swansea, but he would hardly be a statement of intent, rather a statement of 'we're happy with more of the same' so it's a no thank you from me.
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

If Monk is appointed we're telling the world we're happy with a bottom half finish and flirting with relegation. Now appointing Mancini would be one hell of a statement about our intentions!

Can't believe everyone is so negative about Silva! Hull were a basket case when he took over, then sold their best players in January and he turned them into a reasonable outfit. Had some ridiculous record of 40-odd home games unbeaten. He is by far and away my first choice and I can't understand why people wouldn't want him. Sadly I think he'll choose Southampton over us (who could blame him)
...we must expand...get more pupils...so that the knowledge will spread... |

Had a disastrous run at Swansea that lead to his dismissal and a disastrous run at Leeds that saw them go from automatic promotion contenders to failing to even make the playoffs. If he's the best we can do then we're preparing for life in the Championship. Edited by bexleydave (25 May 2017 2.06pm) I agree, he isn't any good.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Gary Monk' by Guntrisoft er I cant help but think that given Silva has told Hull he is leaving today it's more likely Monk's next destination is not Palace but Hull
