And to still be on the forum at this time of the morning speaks volumes - let's hope the roller- coaster is on the up part of the ride. Many thanks Steve.

To SW2Eagle - you are talking utter rubbish. There was no decimated squad and Burley had ample support from the board to bolster it. His signings in general have been poor and he clearly lost the players. When should he have been sacked? When we are 15 points adrift at the bottom?

Finally, who cares if Steve Parish answers selectively? Do you not understand that what is said may be sensitive information and as a chairman some things have to remain private. You should be grateful he has taken the time to answer questions on here at all - and until 2am!

My only advice for what its worth, Is to go with your head as opposed to your heart...I know as all fans we loved Dougie as a player, & obviously having never seen his ability as a no 2, but you cannot take a no 2 role lightly...Take Chelsea's current plight for example, sack Wilkins & Chelsea slump... How do the players react to Dougie Steve??? Do they like him or do they respect him...Sometimes two different things....
Would Edgar consider mananging???
I happen to think Chris Hughton would be a great addition to our club....With a 5 year contract to help us build....I think Curbishley would also suit our club...
Anyway, whatever you decide, we are behind you...Lets help to grow the fanbase, success will do that...

Steve does any of the players know about holmesdale.net or come on here do you know? Also did George Burley used to come on here to view what us fans thought?

Penge - I care if he answers selectively - and so do a few other astute posters. You are welcome to your opinion, but if Mr Parish is going to come onto the forum (which I've told him I appreciate) he must be prepared to answer the questions posed. I've provided my comments in this respect, and will not go over them again.

If you bother to read the posts properly, you'll see that I also understand that some questions cannot be answered - this is not my concern, but there are certainly some that deserve an answer. I've mentioned Syd's already - somebody else asked why Danns only found out about the sacking via Twitter. A valid question and a concerning issue.

As stated, I stand by my view and hope to be proved wrong.

With regard to the squad - my point has only been answered by relying on a pedantic and slightly archaic definition of 'decimated' - rather than by answering the question properly. To clarify - our squad has been vastly reduced in key areas. We have lost Hill, Derry, Fonte, Butterfield, Moses, Ertl, Lee - and that's before the long-term injuries. There are probably more, but I'm not going to wast any more time justifying myself to you.

Right. Sorry if this goes against the grain, but I'm really disappointed with the Q&A session tonight. I think Mr Parish was VERY selective as to which questions he answered, and I firmly believe that the session was more of a publicity stunt than a genuine attempt to keep the fans up to date and provide transparency.

Syd posed some superb questions - ignored. Still there is no answer as to why it is acceptable for a board of directors to make such big decisions on one poor performance - and before anyone jumps in and talks about the season as a whole, Mr Parish himself said that the sacking would not necessarily have happened had the result/performance today have been different.

My other huge concern is that, despite having it put to him time and again that Burley was working with a decimated squad - he pretty much laughed this off and made out that it was Burley's squad. I'm sorry, but Burley was appointed at a time when he had to strengthen immediately - and did the best he could do to repair a lot of damage in a short space of time.

A few months is simply not enough time to build and shape a squad - especially with the transfer window system that is in place today. I also think we've had awful luck with injuries - another point that has been conveniently ignored.

All in all, today has brought me back down to earth with a massive bang. CPFC2010 may well turn out to be better for our club than previous owners (not hard) but they are far from perfect and far from the honest, transparent bunch that they would have us believe. I am also no longer convinced that they are the shrewd and patient owners I thought them to be.

A hugely disappointing day - only made worse by this sham of a Q and A session. Defeat, premature sacking and then this bollocks.

I agree with a lot SW2 says and have highlighted the main areas of agreement.

The talk of GB having only two players to replace was just not a statement of a sane man. When GB took over our first team squad was:

Speroni, McCarthy, Davis, Clyne, Ambrose, Danns, Scannell, Lee and Andrew plus Hills out with a long term injury. From this list we lost Scannell pre-season and he has only just returned and sold Lee which Parish himself agreed with. We had lost Moses and Fonte in January 2010 and had to make do with a squad where on numerous occassions we could not even name seven subs!

So we have young lads bumped up to first team duties with no idea as to whether or not they can cut the mustard i.e. Cadogan, Djilali and Zaha. All good prospects but young and Clyne and Scannell are not exactly seasoned pro's either.

Vaughan was a good loan signing as was Marrow. Gardner, alas, was injury prone as he always has been, Counago has not been bad nor Bennett and Obika the only really dreadful one. Davids was always worth a try on the deal we gave him just never worked out is all. We sign Garvan who I think will do well for us eventually, Dorman who I doubt will make it at this level and whilst I like his enthusiasm the same can be said of Barrett. Wright is a good pro and O'Keefe is a young lad who looks decent enough. Not the greatest bunch of signings but what do you expect for a total outlay of 250,000?

We move into January with the addition of Iversen and Marrow expected to sign for 50,000. We were still looking at three or four new faces.

Personally I think Mr Parish would have been far better posting a prepared statement for the fans and then answering questions arising therefrom. We know he is not going to name names as concerns a replacement for GB so why ask? However, he could have indicated what the board saw as being a necessary change of direction which they must have felt necessary after sacking GB.

Personally I would have given GB more time but I do not know if the rumours of his drinking are true nor whether they affected him doing his job. Very, very few of us would expect to be fired for drinking, even to excess, in our private time if it did not affect our work. However, the board run the club and have every right to make a decision on who manages the club. However, if they are going to talk then talk sense and do not pander to the lowest common denominators.

I am also concerned about the statements by the club on how we have plenty of cash then find they are comparing us to smaller clubs and that 1 million for Vaughan is too rich for them. Whilst I agree 1 million is too high are they saying we do not have 1 million to spend or just that the amount was too high for that player - alas I think the former is the case.

I still have respect for our directors and wish them well. However, I cannot shake off the feeling that they are starting to enter the usual fantasy land lived in by football club directors everywhere.

So we now find ourselves in January with no manager and in a perilous league position. Signings are going to be more difficult (if not impossible) until we have a full-time manager in place and the window is only open four more weeks. Now I have to read hundreds of Palace fans saying Chris Hughton is the man - for goodness sake why is he? I will go on record now as saying that if we appoint CH we will be relegated most certainly.

I cannot say who I want as manager because we are mid-season and those I think are worth having are in jobs, doing well and not going to leave. So we will end up taking someone off the scrapheap and praying and in no better position than we already are - less of course the money we will have had to pay GB for sacking him!

It has been a dissapointing day but a very interesting evening/early morning on here and you have to give Steve credit for coming on here and answering the questions of the fans with regards to the day's events.

RE: Posts generally tonight

I actually logged on quite late tonight so was playing catch up from the start but so many posts on this thread were pointless, repetitive and not well thought out.

Yes...I am going to say a large number of you didn't actually think about what you were writing and instead thought.....'ooooh let me ask Steve that?' and if he doesn't answer me let me ask him again and again and again.

Perhaps some etiquette needs to be drawn up by HOL management as its refreshing to have a board who are willing to engage the fans in this way. We all know from Palace talk in the past that some posters don't use the full potential of their brain to formulate a reply so I fear that a lack of regulation could lead to CPFC2010 withdrawing this privilege.

Oh and by the way people. Yes they saved the club.....yes we are grateful to them for that and for coming on the HOL and the BBS to engage us but do we have to remind/thank them for this every single post????

RE: SW2Eagles post

Post of the night by far (for the wrong reasons). Publicity stunt??? What planet are you on??? I know he is the CEO of an advertising company but are you serious? Hope not.

What were you actually hoping to hear from Steve tonight exactly? It's obvious he isn't going to talk about who the next manager is (which a large proportion of the questions related to) and he has the right to be selective.

Some questions can't be answered. You say Syd's questions were superb. I say his questions were Juicy. Essentially Syd's questions cover:

- Due dilligence on the appointment of George Burley PDS: So we are asking Steve a successful businesman who has put in a lot of money to save this club if he carried out due dilligence on GB. Hmmm right.....

- Scenario planning PDS: So we expect him to divulge what are essentially private conversations with his peers on the board (thats if they have taken place). Right........

- Discussions with GB today and in the past PDS: It's obvious Steve is dissapointed that things haven't worked out for GB, someone Steve describes as a Gentleman (or words to that effect) so why would he share a private conversation or past conversations between us now?

It looks like you have performed your own kind of stunt to get a reply from CPFC2010. I think the funniest thing in your reply to CPFC2010 however is:

"I think you've missed some very good, important questions, but I appreciate you've had a great many fired at you in a short space of time."

You forget the guy is a CEO of a good company, who is able to focus on tougher things like racing cars for long periods of time so a Q&A will be a lot easier in comparison. Rest assured like me he probably read most posts but was right in choosing which to reply to.

Fair play a stack of questions went unanswered, but I reckon it's a cracking effort to come on here with us lot, after a day like it was, and liase with the true supporters.

But what do I know, I'm just an Aussie who returned from the surf (6 footer's, nice) and cracked the top of a frosty beer. (almost 3pm here...)

Looks like Hughton's the man...

This is by a very big margin the best post on this thread, and that on the BBS.

I've stated on the BBS that some people take the piss with the questions etc. In fairness, on the BBS it's worse because CPFC2010 opened the thread to announce that they would be available, and in the same opening post state that they will not discuss/answer any posts regarding a new manager.

So what happens? Lots of posts asking questions about our next manager.

Also, why the hell are we asking for transfer budgets etc to be made public? Let's tell everyone that we are Manchester City of the football league so that we have to pay everyone x4 the amount for their reserve players.

I think it's great that CPFC2010, especially Stev Parrish come on here and talk to us like they do, but you really have to look at yourselves sometimes and just consider whether you are asking the right things.

I have no personal issues with anyone on any of the sites, even though some are abusive to me at times for my expressions of feelings and opinions, but I really do think people on these sites expect to be told everything by CPFC2010,. I'm surprised no-one has asked when they last had a poo etc.

Some things are private, or are not to be announced in any way to us. It's how business works, and it's also called decorum and respect.

People need to show some.

Again, top post PDS. Top post.
