This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle There is a scenario that Wilf gets sold and they just pocket the money without replacing him. Not saying Parish and Co would but I’m sure the Americans would be keen to do it. Nice little bonus before they off back to their US teams. Let’s hope not.

I'm not coming round to anything. I would keep Zaha this season and next. To sell Zaha, we must have deals in place for several PL standard players. No more Sorloths or aging gap fillers. Players who will take us forward for three or four seasons. Simply not going to happen. Fans are still worried he’s never t going to be focused or give enough effort and you still think you’d be able to keep him for another 2 seasons from now. I’d like us to be able to max out on his peak years and get sorted with a phase over of evolving the team too, but we’re Crystal Palace, not Ferguson’s Man Utd or a top 2 team. I think we should do all we can to stall it until January, but if £100 mil is true then he’s off now. Ideally I’d prefer June 2020 as January 2020 prices for replacements won’t be cheap, but we’re hardly managing a bidding war and it’s going to get very uncomfortable and damaging with him wanting to leave. Again, some have still been worried he’s caused a bad atmosphere in the squad.

I think PSG alleged move for Zaha is subject on Naymar being sold to either Real Madrid or Barca which is also a big ask in terms of Transfer fee but still doable . If Palace gets £100 mil offer Parish would accept it as it meets the agreed criteria that apparently was agreed with him and wilf previously ie: Champions League and Transfer fee. Also this would see the Americans of the payrole and perhaps SP can rethink the longer term strategy for the club , obviously No Zaha weakens the team but we have to bite the bullit some time and a £100

It's my understanding that the shareholders have loaned funds to the club on a pari passu basis. Some of Parish's investment looks to have been made by means of awarding himself bonuses that haven't been taken what about the salary he pays himself?

Selling him in January would be ridiculous. I agree, but if £100 mil came in then, actually it probably wouldn’t take that much, I’d be very surprised if Parish can stop it happening AND keep a cohesive squad and player who wanted to go and is worried he won’t get another shot. What if he doesn’t want to risk injury rather than stropping only? I’d love it if your way of thinking worked when people are at the club 5 days a week but it’s not as easy as it is for someone to just say he stays for another 9 or 21 months after what’s gone on and him handing in the transfer request, which is an important point since it could come to it that Zaha hands in another transfer request, PSG meet the price and that’s it, he’s off.

Selling him in January would be ridiculous. We had time to spend the money sensibly this summer... the awb money was sitting there for weeks... did the scouting team have notes on players from the last 6 months that suit us and realitically could sign for us? It's not as if they sit their twiddling their thumbs waiting for money, then when they do get money think 'ok who shall we sign'. None of us assumed awb would have been sold... it threw a spanner in the works and parish couldn't have handled the pr nightmare of losing two star players in one hit.. but.. an organsied DOF could have realistically handled it so that replacements were lined up and the fans would have understood it would be a new chapter, new transition. No one is bigger than the club and look.... zaha couldn't even help us beat colchester.... the mentality at palace needs to change from top to bottom.

I’d agree with this if the highest bid was more than £52 mil. As it turned out we only had tyre kickers looking. The clubs who could buy him either didn’t and don’t need him right now, are under an embargo, or have owners the equivalent of ours who want to spread payments over so long we may as well prepare for relegation. Zaha didn’t go because the bids were so low. If they were high enough and early enough he probably would’ve gone. This part of Parish’s window was pretty easy behind closed doors. The other BS in the public with fictional bids, boyhood clubs, transfer requests, stalling returning to training etc wasn’t.
