I often wonder about you Dan. Are you really an accountant or do you just take the clients around for drinks or something?. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Jan 2021 8.35am) There are several sources saying there is nothing directly attributing it to Stalin. The Twain one wasn’t him either. Didn’t you used to be a teacher? If you took this approach to referencing an academic paper you would be torn to shreds. Edited by DanH (19 Jan 2021 8.41am)

As for Twain, I'll check that.

I'll withdrawn the Twain attribution to what is otherwise a rather accurate piece of advice. As for my teaching....I taught IT and computing, not English literature. You on the other hand work in an industry that dances for the wealthy while you yourself profess 'progressive' beliefs. So I'll take no judgements on me from the likes of hypocrites.

I studied economics but still had to reference every single quote and source to validate it's accuracy. It's not limited to English Lit. I also work in an industry that is one of the most heavily regulated, both domestically and internationally, with a myriad of laws, regulations and standards to be met and adhered to. It's also one where accuracy matters a lot. It also gives you a good nose for b*llocks, which goes into overdrive reading your posts.

It's amusing that you come on here concerned about referencing the accuracy of English quote attribution when your own English grammar seems to be at novice level: so much for a concern for accuracy. Concerning the quotes, well both contain truth. While the accuracy of attribution is valid to mention. I think it's also a sign of pendency to over focus upon that rather than the message on a forum. As for accountancy, well when it's work for the wealthy to improve their financial situation still further a question of immorally can be raised in terms of 'social justice'. Most know that those clients are highly sought after, so while you can talk about regulations all you like, the reality of the result is different. The fact that this is your profession while you claim to be a 'progressive' has always been a source of low level amusement to me. As for my own personal views on accountancy for the wealthy and the advantages it creates I have a mixed perspective on it. However I'm not the so called 'progressive' here. I'll end this reply with what seems most apparent to me, which is the chip on your shoulder concerning myself. It's ironic that the left reference 'hate' so much when the main source of it seems to come from its supporters.

Right. Unless the court found no case to answer because it had been infiltrated by right wing extremists. Do you really think that courts can get infiltrated? Even if the Judges are politically appointed in the USA and some lean one way or another their primary loyalty is always to the law. As the Supreme Court recently demonstrated when throwing out a Trump attempt at overturning the election result.

Trump doing what he does best on his last day as 'President' – temper tantruming all over the shop Latest example Lifting Covid travel restrictions on the UK, Ireland, the European Union, and Brazil. Sounds like a great idea According to the final gallop poll His approval rating has now dropped to 34%. Apparently he's the only president never to have hit 50% job approval, making him the least popular president in polling history. Figures Edited by SW19 CPFC (19 Jan 2021 10.47am)
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Forgetting the fact that he is politically inept, how has he done financially during his term? I’m interested to know because that seems the more likely area where he may have had a positive influence.

Well as someone who was indeed there ME. I saw at first hand along Fifth Ave, Union Sq, Madison Sq Park & other places across NYC that somewhere in the region of 90% of them were White, Middle Class usually in their early 20s. So if someone is "white" and in their early 20s it follows that they must be a middle class "rent a mob" type? I don't doubt that many were activists who passionately care about issues but if any either looted or caused damage then they weren't. They were criminals using genuine protests as cover. Decent law-abiding citizens, who believe in democracy, will protest about injustice when it was as awful as that which happened to Floyd. They aren't though criminals. Law-abiding citizens don't break the law. The fact that you don't see much support on the street in NY ought not be a surprise. It seems he isn't very popular there. I wonder why?
