Most consumers don't give a toss about anything "woke". It's only the right who get so excited about it. Many now care about the environment, and it's far from being just the young. Most though care much more about quality and value. The huge cynicism demonstrated above is only topped by the ability to try to link it to the grooming gang scandal and "Asian" votes, which is as ridiculous as it is creative. Not sure about that. Branding is pretty important - people will queue round the block for some companies offerings no matter what they are so the trick is to convince people to buy what they don’t actually want or need.

We all have different opinions and approaches. Mine is harsh, I accept that, but there are times when firmness is needed, and times when compromise serves better. Thatcher knew that better than anyone. Just as I want all religion removed from public life, without exception, I want no sympathy extended to anyone deliberately refusing the vaccine. Except those who remain misinformed, and nervous. They need help. You are an extremist. Irrational language use is one thing, removing religion from public life is what it seems....extreme. Brands build trust. That's marketing, not selling. What you describe is confidence trickery. I personally never buy anything because of its brand. The idea that people displaying a label makes them feel good leaves me cold. I buy on quality and value. Working for so long in the food industry allowed me to know who made what for whom. Many recipes are identical, or slightly tweaked. Only the packaging is really any different, although many consumers refuse to believe it. Own label is now so well entrenched that in many cases the biggest selling brand is now an own label. The biggest selling baked beans, for instance, isn't Heinz, it's Tesco. You pay a lot more to support the brand awareness of Heinz though.

You are an extremist. Strange that. I thought I was a weak at the knees, compliant, leftist sheep. According to the multitude of sages posting here. Now I am labelled in the same camp as ISIS, The Taliban and the name this thread is dedicated to. I'm off to have my bedtime Horlicks. Too much excitement.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

You know full well that advertising is about influence. Identifying a need is a different aspect altogether.
