Not that its Bentekes fault but Zaha is not a striker he is a winger who thrives on isolating the full back . Playing where he did today just makes it too easy to double up on him

This... and also couldnt it just be that he is match time rusty after a very short pre season?

I am wondering on Roy’s plan and statement he’s playing Zaha centrally this season. Whose idea is it and why?

Zaha’s wish and peace keeping?
Roy doing it to prove some point?
Innocent idea that just hasn’t worked?

And how long will Roy persist with it?

Maybe he has in mind that Zaha played exactly that role when Palace won at both Man City and Arsenal last season? Re the latter game, he played alongside Benteke and it certainly worked well that day - indeed it was apparently this game and Zaha's impact that led to the Arsenal interest over the summer.

I thought Wilf looked un-interested, did not make any/many runs, and in my opinion was his worst game for ages, If he wants to go in Jan/next year he will need to up his game.

He was poor yesterday but did no-one see him after the full time whistle? Clapping the fans more than any other player, pounding the Palace badge whilst putting thumbs up and nodding his head. Looked very motivated for next week in my opinion. I know it doesn't affect the result but for someone who "doesn't care" he showed the most emotion after the whistle

Surely someone else who went to the game noticed this?

I interpreted his clapping and thumbs up as a sarcastic reaction to Palace fans booing the performance.

TBH I think the whole team realised that they let the travelling fans down on Sunday and probably expected the mixed reception that they got.
I don't think Wilf was being sarcastic at least he did show some appreciation although you could see that he wasn't at all happy. Wardy came over as well like he always does, the rest really didn't bother which win or lose is not good enough.

I didn’t interpret his actions as sarcastic either. He seemed genuine enough to me.

I noticed in the build up to Sheffield’s goal - Townsend was left for dead.

He had no turn of pace -as an earlier poster highlighted!

Was quite alarming to tell the truth.
