The world is giving up on Britain, warns CBI chief
Story by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard.

Global investors are shunning Britain because the Government has no coherent economic plan and is failing to keep up with volcanic policy changes in the US and Europe, the head of British industry has warned.

What actual strategy does the UK have for brexit recovery, economic growth and investment.

Its just a vacuum of 'things will get better maybe'.

But which actual laws have come in now that are different from EU laws and improve our lot?

I didn’t say as much as uk laws. I said they are still just as influential on us as they were before we ‘took back control’.

Thank you for the clarification. However, it is clearly not true that EU laws 'govern us just as much now' as when we were in the EU.

Thank you, you make my point perfectly

We had the ability from 2018 to prepare our own laws. Since then, nada, zilch, beggar all. A fantastic Brexit benefit don't you think. Leaving the EU was not a benefit in and of itself, you then had to make some hay, or at least prepare to make hay or - well - do anything. Not only are we struggling to make hay, you just try importing any.

Well, we were all told to strap our seatbelts on this year as we are in for a bumpy ride

Except our great leader kind of forgot...

Do I? You asked for a law that has come in that is different from EU law and improved our lot. I gave you an example, another is Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018

Still you can join CP in any EU Country you desire, they are obviously a better option, as you do nothing but “slag off” the UK

Clearly it has not (yet???) improved our lot. It was simply an enabling law.

If Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act is the best you can do, you may want to take note that we didn't actually leave the EU until 11pm GMT 31 January 2020. So that Act was passed when we were still in the EU and certainly wasn't a Brexit benefit. It was actually passed to allow us to do what we already were able to do when in the EU, apply sanctions once we had left. It was only an enabling Act, again it had no content per se but was passed so that we could then pass further laws.

The most amusing thing is that the UK transposed the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive into UK law and the government has not announced any proposals to deviate from those requirements. All it really did was change the definition of a “third country” to a country outside the UK, as opposed to outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

You have to keep moving the goal posts don't you! Here's one from 2021: Trade Act 2021
Also, the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 certainly was of benefit to us. It enables the UK to create its own sanctions framework allowing us to issue sanctions rather than adopting EU or UN models and to make our own provisions for the purposes of the detection, investigation and prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, rather than being subject to EU directives
