If you don't trust the justice system to deliver a fair hearing then we are seeing more evidence of the way malign influences are sowing distrust in institutions. Only today I listen to opinions on the "Infrastructure Bill", for which the Biden administration has achieved bi-partisan support. It was given a lot of praise for its vision and commitment to develop the US economy to serve the needs of the future. They are miles ahead of us. I see no reason at all why those who participated in the events at the Capitol Building should not be prosecuted. They ought not to have been there. Protesting outside is legal. Forcing an entry is not. They will have every opportunity to prove their innocence. The situation has become overly politicised but since the debt ceiling has been increased over 100 times in the past you'd think it will be resolved.
The consequences of defaulting would be dire - estimates are that defaulting for a week would cost 1.5m jobs. Any longer and the world's economy would be in trouble.
