To quote a random chap from the past, "You can fool some of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time".

No you can't, he hasn't and won't again. He lost the popular vote in 2016 and will surely again this year. During the impeachment hearings the minority of Democratic senators represented 18 million more voters than the majority of Republicans. The reason is the way their system works which favours small rural conservative states and not the large liberal ones.

It seems he will win a second term in office. That's a lot of people he's fooling if what you believe is correct.

That's conjecture. He might but he might not but whatever happens he won't have fooled a majority as I pointed out above. Still a lot mind you but that phenomenon isn't restricted to the USA. A awful lot have been fooled here too recently.

By the way. I don't really worry about US politics. I find it rather overblown. It's all a game to their politicians. Who has the bigger balls/private parts etc. I'm not sucked in like some others.

It's important though, especially when we could be seeking a closer than ever relationship.

Incidentally, do you enjoy the Oscar's, or maybe the BAFTA's?

They are of no interest at all.

Why are you so bothered about this?

How the biggest economy is governed is really important, especially when we are looking to get closer to them.

When their President is behaving as irresponsibly towards other countries, and failing to sustain efforts to combat climate change, I think everyone ought to be "bothered".

If all his critics are "corrupt, lying b'stards" then they are the best actors I have ever seen. If Trump is innocent of all he has been accused of then the world is upside down.

It has nothing to do with whether I agreed with them or not. I had no knowledge of what they said until they said it. It's only because of the consistency, logic, simplicity and honest style that convinced me they were speaking the truth as they know it.

What about the fact that their impeachment case was demonstrably bollocks?

And what happened to the three painful years of the Russian collusion hoax? Were the “two prosecutions” (at least one of which was a very questionable entrapment scenario that’s about to be overturned) anything to do with Russia?

You are blinded by your own confirmation bias. I know because I used to be just like you (well, at least in this respect). I was simply not paying enough attention like most people who consume and put trust in mainstream media.

How do you anti trump folk feel about the death of the Iranian general now with hindsight.
You all screamed about trump and how bad it was but now we can look at the situation with no war or threat of war but he got rid of a very bad person.

Do you now think trump was right?

**Correct Answer** & I live here & for those with hearing problems NO ONE,REPEAT, NO ONE CARES or certainly no one outside of CNN, MSNBC Etc.

I spent last week with 2 visitors from California and I can assure you they care.

I have spend a lot of time with US citizens in the Philippines and they follow the stories and all care too.

I am a member of several FB groups, both pro and anti Trump, whose membership runs into the 100s of thousands. They care. Often a lot.

Read Trump's tweets and then the thousands of replies. Those people care.

So your claim is just wrong. Maybe you need to get out more!

What about the fact that their impeachment case was demonstrably bollocks?

Because it wasn't! It was clearly true. The only Republican with an ounce of integrity left is Romney. If you had heard the witnesses give their testimony in the House then you will understand why McConnell manipulated the rules so the Senate didn't hear any. Especially Bolton. This was like having a jury made up of the accused's defence lawyers.

And what happened to the three painful years of the Russian collusion hoax? Were the “two prosecutions” (at least one of which was a very questionable entrapment scenario that’s about to be overturned) anything to do with Russia?

There were many more than 2 prosecutions and more to come yet, when the time is right. The big fish are in the but it's not being pulled in just yet as the water is too choppy and they could escape. Everything comes to those who wait.

You are blinded by your own confirmation bias. I know because I used to be just like you (well, at least in this respect). I was simply not paying enough attention like most people who consume and put trust in mainstream media.

It's you who are blinded by bias. I don't rely on any media, main stream or not. I read Trump's tweets. I watch him and his speeches. I watch and listen to the investigations and how both sides of the aisle respond. Then I reach my conclusions.

As some here will know I have spent a lot of time in the Philippines in the last 20 years. I owned a second home there for a while and still retain a smaller place for occasional visits.

In July 19 I was there for a few weeks and during a meal with around 20 local people I asked them what they thought of Trump.

No-one had an opinion! Believe it or not no-one had even heard of him. In rural locations the news is almost all national and local. International issues hardly ever get mentioned. People still think I am an "Americano" just because I have a white skin and that England is a US state.

So don't take this "poll" too seriously. The upper classes in Manila may well hold Trump in high esteem, just as they hold Duterte too. The rural poor also think Duterte is great because he is getting tough (killing them) with drug dealers and corruption. It is not a country with any parallels to us.

It's how Trump is seen in western democracies which ought to be considered.

Weren't you banging on a few weeks ago that no one had heard of Trump in the Phillippines?
As for getting out more? I live in 'Liberal' NYC not some Devon backwater with 800 people living there & yep

Oh I don't doubt there are some wind up merchants and trolls there but you can still gain a sense of what people are thinking.

On the Trump supporting groups he is almost a god. He certainly can do nothing wrong. It's nothing less than a cult. He is milking the Bible belt for all it's worth.

On the anti Trump groups he is hated more than any US politician than I have ever seen. That includes Obama who was vilified for years by the right.

Trump has divided the USA and has done nothing at all to try to heal that division. Indeed he is actively trying to make it worse.

That this has happened alongside our own divisive event makes me feel very uncomfortable. I think the USA is a country in crisis who will face many challenges in future years. That in turn raises huge questions for everyone else, which we will struggle to solve alone. Expecting that a trade deal with them could be a panacea for us is very foolish in my view.

If you bothered to actually read what I wrote you will realise that my recent post concerned American ex pats living in the Philippines whilst the previous, older, one related to local, rural Filipinos. The two groups are completely different in behaviour and outlook and almost never meet, let alone communicate with each other.

I live in Cornwall. Our village has about 300 people living in it. Devon is a foreign country to the Cornish.

Repeating a lie, no matter how often it is done, doesn't make it true. Try reading my previous post again where I provided evidence that what you asserted is untrue.
