We have three players in the England squad who were acquired for a combined £36m, one of the top young wingers in Europe acquired for £8m, signed Bournemouth's POTY for free, another mid-table season in which we were never seriously in threat of the drop, a timely managerial replacement and steered clear of FFP, one of the best youth academies in the country, and all season tickets sold out for the forthcoming season. Yes, Parish is doing a terrible job!

Anyway, when is Hodgson getting announced?

On what do you base this positive assertion ?

I accept the academy is now 'Category 1', the cost to the club has been £30 Mill and the facilities look impressive.

It has category 1 status, the U21 team finished 4th only behind only Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City, while the U18s finished third in the U18 Premier League South division. The U21s also reached the final of that European adventure. Whitworth also made his first-team debut, as did Ozoh, while Rak-Sakyi won plaudits in league one and O'Brien picked up a trophy in Belgium, and Killian Philips is high in demand after a great season. There's a few reasons.

The Academy is doing a good job in developing very gifted young players. Let's hope a few of them make it into the first team squad

One player of a decent premiership standard and you get your 30m outlay back.

Team wise it has been an unmitigated success.. we can now claim to be one of the top four in almost all under twenty one categories. Even the under 15s have won the national floodlight cup twice in three years, second on the other occasion. Of course it has cost money and is yet to produce much for the first team . I wouldn’t include Mitchell, or AWB, as both were just in front of the completion of the present academy.
It is too early to be judgemental in a negative way. But producing good teams at this level is one thing, producing really good individual players is quiet another, in particular if as we do need them to make the biggest leap in football from academy to the best most demanding league anywhere. Time will tell we haven’t been at it anywhere near as long as the giants, but given time we could have a conveyor belt similar to Chelsea or even Man C.

And this is the point. Declan rice at spam (I think) was through the academy. His sale will on paper, finance theirs for years to come. As you say lanzo; just one.

Declan Rice used to be at the Chelsea academy for a few years playing there as a central defender but Chelsea released him and he joined the academy at W.Ham.

What starts at BBS ends up at Holmesdale! Very welcome if hardly surprising...
