I have no issues around short-selling. What I object to is the blatent rigging of the market in favour of these hedge funds. An utter disgrace. The one thing the Left does have any incredible valid point about is this trend, ever since 2008, for losses to be socialised whilst profits are kept strictly private. This is the one thing I truly struggle with the Left about. In many ways a lot of their concerns about how the free-market is operated at the moment do have real validity. There is a genuine sense of wide-spread public disquiet and with a lot of justification about how our economies are being run which the Left could easily tap into. If the Left dropped all this Identity politics BS they might actually get somewhere. Instead, they allow themselves to defend nonsense such as men being allowed to go into women-only spaces and stir up racial conflict for no end other than the fact it makes them feel a kind of f***ed sense of enjoyment. When it comes to how....what is meant to be a free market, is in fact partly a rigged one I think most people agree that it's an apolitical subject. It's not a criticism of people who have money invested but an observation of the power players in the markets and their undue influence. On one hand, the Gamestop situation is absurd as it's the market's job to dispassionately evaluate companies and their futures and making money from that is just capitalism. However, by the same token, a free market is all about risk and not all stocks are valued realistically for many different reasons. Hence, if a load of Bernie and Musk bros want to defend a bricks and mortar company from the financial vultures then them's the breaks suckers.....the market shouldn't give a damn. They don't shed tears for the little guy who gambles away his wealth so what's good for the goose... But as Matov said, what happened exposed the belly of the beast.....and it's one fat ugly mofo. When it comes to how....what is meant to be a free market, is in fact partly a rigged one I think most people agree that it's an apolitical subject.

People will believe what they want to believe. The left will pull out some stuff with statistics to back them up to counter this and the right will state their information is all lies. Most people haven't changed their political persuausion in spite of the efforts of debaters on this website. People, specially older people, are too set in their ways and just continue on the path they are on regardless most of the time.
