Benteke and Sakho both had over 100 pages on here before they signed, the fans are just as bad demanding marquee signings every transfer window. The board would be getting slagged off now asking why we ain't showing the same ambition as other clubs if they hadn't been signed they're dammed if they do and dammed If they don't.

If signing Sakho meant falling afoul of FFP or generally screwing over any chance we had of spending more than 10 million quid over the summer then it was a poor decision, without also selling some players at the same time.

We have only really sold Murray, Gayle and Bolasie during cpfc2010s entire tenure. That fact along with signing big money defenders does not correlate.

Sign strikers for 25 m quid or more, but not centre backs.

We showed plenty of ambition getting in Benteke and that should be applauded but signing defenders for that amount of money (if it tips the scales on ffp/your finances in general) is a bad move.

We need players who can score goals in this side. Not doing better than Sorloth and Ayew in the last window is criminal.

We need to be signing the likes of Benteke out of Belgium, not the premier league. Different era but Villa paid 7 mil for him. We did well to scout players like Luka but whoever signed off on Sorloth needs firing.

As a long standing supporter the current tribulations are part of being a Palace fan but it doesn’t make it any less annoying.
I remember the disintegration of the great ‘team of the eighties’ and subsequently the relegation of the team that had finished third in the Premier League equivalent under Coppell ( for newcomers the equivalent of what Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are striving to achieve now).
At some point we are likely be relegated as all teams outside the top 6 seem destined
to encounter this at some point in the future.
The difference for me now is that we are no longer a selling club as we were in the past when we had to sell the likes of Ian Wright.
Despite our current striking problems the squad should be more than capable of surviving as we have some very good players.
For me this means that Hodgson has to take his share of responsibility as he is not getting the best out of the squad.

If we were signing cheaper players we’d scouted nobody would give a fook about surplus to requirements players at Liverpool.

We do, only problem is they are generally utterly sh***.

Rakip and Jach spring to mind. My word the last January window can clearly now only be described as a complete horror show, with the benefit of hindsight.

We spent £11.5 Mill (Excluding the add-ons) on the likes of Sorloth,Jach,Rakip and Cavalieri.

Another "Horrow show" this coming January and I fear we will be in the Championship next season.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

If we dont inject some quality in the final third and send Ayew packing it will be a travesty.

Travesties seem all too common though at the Palace, look at FDB.

Either Hodgson needs to work another miracle or we must invest (or perhaps both, as they are no doubt related) lest we succumb to the championship.

With those 4 signings the goalie is not the one that concerns me.

Parish said Rakip was signed to make up the numbers in training.......no.....really, he honestly said that.

Jach is struggling on loan at a poor side in Turkey.

As for Sorloth he has no positional sense whatsoever, added to no physical presence. The least you expect from a centre forward is to get into the right positions and give the defenders a hard time but he is so easy to mark out of the game. Wilbraham would be a better option, and when you compare unfavorably to Aaron Wilbraham, you know you have issues.

He is absolutely nowhere near the finished article and must be loaned out urgently. Therefore we need to bring in new blood unless Wickham and Benteke are match fit on Jan 1, and even then we probably still need to sign a proper striker.

I agree, we need premiership standard defenders, not fringe champions league - if that makes sense. Almost like splitting the league in two and getting a squad that will win the bottom ten league - there are so many players from the top two leagues that combined and coached well can achieve this.

Our squad is not strong enough and we all know about our transfer policy which is beyond this Manager's control - but I reckon Roy has this Saturday to save his skin!
A poor result will see him gone in my opinion.
Could we play differently, can we utilise our players better and have a different plan for different opposition?
I think we could and should be doing better than we are even with what we have available and that has to be down to the Manager.
He is beginning to look lost and his post match comments which were once insightful are now like a broken record.
If this were Pardew I would have been calling for his head and so...…………………………….

Wilbraham was a very good player, just couldn't score goals.
