Brighton were too organised for us to break down.

In that case all PL managers have our home tactics sussed. Statistically undeniable, just look at our awful home record. Therefore it is up to RH and team to study results, question why they have gone the way they have, and is there anything that can be done in terms of tactical approach that can alter them for a more successful outcome.
All season RH has not changed his Plan A approach, despite the evidence that it clearly does not work. This inflexibility is costing us.

Partly correct. The manager picks the team and chooses the tactics. Quite what Roy manages I don’t know. Even if it is obvious to Stevie Wonder Roy will stick with it over and over and over agin. Responsibility only lies with one person. Unless you are new to football. Our home record over the last 2 seasons is indefensible.

I'd be interested to know how the manager is responsible for a hoof up the field which is missed by
our centre back and a goalie out of position ending in the back of our net. Also how is he responsible for a touch of class which was Brighton's second goal.

By your logic it was Pep Guardioala's fault that we beat Man City. Sometimes it's nobody's fault that a team loses it's just the way it is with football.

What RH should have realised by now is that if we score first we are in a good position because we have the counterattacking capability to hurt teams as they come out trying to get an equaliser.
Why at home we start so slowly and let the opposition score first,, giving them the opportunity to sit back and counter is a mystery to me.
Manchester United under Ferguson would pummel the opposition for the first 15 minutes at home, we just pass it from side to side. We need to be on the front foot and up the tempo, give the crowd something to get excited about.

Seriously ? You are making comparisons with one of the most successful, if not the most successful teams and manager in modern football with our present day Palace ?

Our home form has been wretched for years now. While I agree that Hodgson has not resolved that problem, it's one that every Palace manager has struggled with since promotion to the Prem.

However, I didn't think Roy helped himself yesterday with his team selection in the midfield. It was a given that Brighton would concede possession and therefore it would make sense to select players most comfortable with the ball at their feet - Kouyate and Meyer. We had plenty of the ball but weren't good enough at moving it around quickly enough to draw Brighton out of position.

What a pathetically defeatist attitude.

It was Tommo's fault for the first goal.
It was Hodgson's fault for the defeat. Predictable again, same old tactics, wrong starting line up, keep playing PVA etc etc.

To win you have to address the root cause. The attitude of "that's how it goes" is an easy cop out and will only lead to repeat performance.

You have jumped the gun. All I am saying that it is a tactic employed that put them on the front foot immediately and let the opposition know that they were in a game from the off. If I cited Barcelona taking short corners to keep possession rather that pump hopeless balls into the box would that mean I am comparing us to Barcelona? No, I am exploring different ways of applying tactics that may help us overcome our very obvious deficiencies in certain areas. RH sticks to Plan A, IT DOESN'T WORK.

That makes no sense at all, the logic you are using is very odd. Mistakes happen. It’s palace total inadequacy to take the game to teams at home that is the issue. Using one off scenarios is pointless and holds no value at all. Roy at Selhurst park for 2 seasons has been abysmal. Most likely would have gone by now if he was any other manager.

The players we have means we are always likely to be better away from home or against teams that attack us. When we're at home and teams are sitting a bit deeper against us we haven't got the composure and vision to pass through teams. We're great on the break with speed and power upfront but we miss that bit of creativity that other teams have.

Even with Kouyate, Meyer and Luka as a central three, that's not exactly a midfield three that are going to open teams up.

The teams that we should be competing with, the likes of West Ham, Watford etc. all have better midfields on the ball. Our strength lies in a solid back 5, protected by our midfield three with the ability to knock the ball out quick to the wings and counter through Wilf and Townsend.

If we really want to start winning more at home, we have to be braver and play a central three that can keep the ball and player that killer pass. That's where we miss the likes of Cabaye and RLC.

Ok - so how do you go about '' pummelling '' the opposition from the start - what does that entail exactly ?

Overlaps in wide areas and getting men in the box. Quicker tempo. Constant questions asked of the centre halfs. Excite the crowd through positive actions.
It worked for Brighton, one situation that Tompkins had to deal with and he f***ed up! In other words make them work for their pay. Side to side passing in midfield is no threat whatsoever.

If Roy gets us to a cup final he would have redeemed himsel. If we get past away Watford both games will be away from Selhurst so who knows.. if we go out next week a very, very underwhelming season. With the squad we have. Not good enough.

Why would he have gone if he was any other manager?
When he took over and before he had settled in we were
soon W0 D0 L7 and no goals. Every pundit and newspaper in the country had us relegated but Roy kept us up against the odds. This season the only "striker" that he had available was Ayew. We win at Man City, draw at Man Utd and give Liverpool a scare. We've just had a two game winning away run scoring 7 with only 2 against.

But yet you and other eejits want him sacked. Just be bleddy careful what you wish for!!
