I see TM has said the governments response to the tragedy in the immediate aftermath wasn't good enough. Is she going to get dogs abuse from Cucking for saying the same thing I did?

I doubt that this is a left/right thing. Whatever it was then proper investigations should reveal it. I wouldn't be surprised if the reality is far less ideological than politics. Nick's past cut and paste is far more balanced but I'd rather we moved away from Labour this, Tory that....At least until we know there's a point to it.
It's also not just poor. Page 78 of the BBS thread has a link to a rightmove ad for a 2 bed flat in Grenfell tower. £2,150 per month. Looked top notch inside, as did the angle of the photos of the outside. Talk on there of private developments having no corner left uncut, which will happen if the regulations allow it. Why would one developer spend more than another? Also that a lot of social housing used to be made to a better standard than private. A relative bought a private sector house in the mid '70s built with social housing standards. Inside it didn't look anything like a council house but the standard of materials might have been. Actually plenty in that area look in very good condition.

The person making the ad actually put 'No Garden Access' at the bottom.

From Aug 16: An update to the Department of Education’s (DfE) Design in Fire Safety in Schools stated that “Building Regulations do not require the installation of fire sprinkler suppression systems in school buildings for life safety”. “Therefore,” it added, “[guidelines] no longer include an expectation that most new school buildings will be fitted with them.” [Tweet Link]

Never liked Greening but I wonder what happened there.....probably budget pressure. Probably something else we can all trace back to 2008.

What, you've read the Mail? I thought you got shot for that these days.

Apparently when Grenfell residents checked into local hotels they got £10 from the council. TEN, yes ten pounds. A thorough audit is soon likely in Kensington and Chelsea council. As I said eons back on this thread (before it got seriously s***ty) until we know the entire FACTS there's no point blaming anyone person, company government, thing. It's more than likely going to be a combination of them all. However....again as I said way back up the thread...the real villians in this piece are the Local Authority...for them not to have ANYONE on the ground helping to organise things from the morning after onwards is simply unforgivable. All LA's have a disaster plan, and there's also a London wide one which transfers 'control' on a regular basis to other London LA's Chief Execs. The way RK&C have responded has been cowardly, crass and above all negligent to those residents that in this moment needed their support the most.
