The latest in a flurry of own goals for you Gusset.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Oh the hypocrisy.

Goes on and on about there being nothing to see and having no problem about Corbyn's past and then you do this.

Nick you are so transparent I can see what you had for lunch.

I don't know of any Tories supporting a side that was deliberately murdering British soldiers. That's your side.

Normally you are so very blasé about the inevitable casualties in a war and quite accepting of it as a consequence. So what made The Troubles so very different to all other conflicts that you can't rationalise its results in the same way?

It's Gusset's vain attempt to use the "tu quoque" argument. Didn't work at Nüremberg, either.

The DUP want the Olympic team name changed. Finally, the mainstream media in the UK will see what they are like and what their priorities are.

That wasn't the proper one, just trials.

Most soldiers are doing a job. The IRA were volunteers who weren't representing another government. I suppose I feel less charitable towards them.....However this idea that you end conflicts and everything is ok is risible. It took another generation to die before attitudes towards Germany and Japan really adapted for many.

I don't think the good Friday agreement was fair on the unionists at all. But that's a different thread. I'm not neutal between unionists and say republicans who supported murdering British soldiers. My brother did a tour over there.

There were republicans who didn't support murder as a method of advancing their aims. I have no problems with them.

I do accept that armies are there to fight and I'm not one for the modern era's view of them as window dressing.

However that doesn't mean that I don't care for their lives. When it comes to British forces lined up against those who would wish to kill them I'm not neural...sorry.

That's for you lot.

I can't decide which gave me more pleasure, Nick Clegg losing his seat or Angus Robertson.

Perfect summation of May debacle when even after losing majority that her judgment in response is still hopelessly wrong

Indeed. This makes intuitive sense. I for one, while pleased the Tories are in a mess, am less pleased that May has created a situation where Brexit cannot be forefront of the minds of politicians given the mess at home, simply due to a hubristic attempt at a power grab. The election was a vanity project for her and purely politically opportunistic. If she genuinely believed this election was necessary due to Brexit she would have called it soon after become PM and certainly BEFORE article 50 was triggered. Her actions have been irresponsible and now threaten the future of this country as we prepare for these vitally important Brexit negotiations.

I hope that we have another election and we manage to get a government that actually has the authority and ability to get on with Brexit, but to do so in a manor that bears the public in mind and which puts public services, jobs and social rights at the heart of negotiations.
