Just watched the documentary about the grooming scandal in Telford. Wow. Not TR's biggest fan and am highly suspicious of him on a variety of levels but the film makes some very detailed accusations with people named along with police corruption.

And one single thing leaps out.

A 13-year-old girl is raped and ends up pregnant. The pregnancy is terminated and DNA tests confirm that an adult male was the father. And yet no prosecution? Stinks to high heaven.

And it went on and on though part one, two, three .. Its out there stuff. I find it hard to articulate it.

Tommy Robinson appears to have evidence of collusion between the police and groomimg gangs involving the exchange of money.

A point here is regardless of who Tommy Robinson is or was the crimes are so vile and vast in nature a civilised society has to be interested in what occurre, and its authorities have to act.

No new disappointment will ever surprise me anymore.

Damming report on the Child grooming scandal and the failures this is not historic it's happening now, disgusting you think they would have learned by now. Too busy policing social media.

I posted the BBC link as this is the mildest criticism many of the newspapers are not as kind and quite rightly. However I didn't want to give people the get out "well it's the Mail / Express / Sun blah blah."

No it's not, even the BBC can see it stinks.

Still I have been told that we should trust the authorities that they know what they are doing and it's best left to them.

A State which cannot protect the public is, itself, not worth protecting.

Yep I am sure if the evidence is there, prosecutions would follow. We should trust the authorities

Yep, we shouldn't forget what was written on here and just how rotten many collective parts of the establishment are.

We await justice.

Given the history of abuse and misrepresentation I have encountered in the past on this subject I have hesitated before making any comment.

Having only read the report on the report I think there are more questions than answers. This enquiry has been running for 7 years already, yet there appears to be little common ground between what they are reporting and what the Police are. Why is this? Are they defining these problems in the same way? If it's true that the Police are under-reporting them and/or under-investigating them, why is this? Is it, as some think, simple inefficiency, or are there deeper concerns caused by under resourcing and a conflict over priorities?

The problems identified are unquestionably of great concern and demand answers. There are though aspects in the reported circumstances which go far beyond the existence of gangs who prey on vulnerable girls in order to exploit them. Why is a school not picking things up? What has created the vulnerability in the first place? Are we seeing the tip of an iceberg of societal breakdown triggered by austerity?

I don't for a moment claim to have the answers. I don't think there are any easy ones, or that we ought to rush to point the fingers of blame at easy targets. That solves nothing.

I'll leave it there and won't be adding any more.

I heard that all crimes involving children are being labelled as child exploitation. Whether being raped or groomed or county lines drug gangs. This is from police and local councils. It's a setup to avoid isolating the rape gangs.
If no one at the top from all parties realises this is wrong and certain crimes are worse than others then clearly it is all fecked up.

This is the guy that the Hol left support....hell apparently, according to him, some 'conservatives' support too.

That's how far this country has fallen.

Goodness me!

I didn't say that, and that anyone could think I did, just confirms why I hesitated in contributing to the debate.

Nothing at all, other than an evil, criminal mindset, causes anyone to rape kids.

My remark was solely about what causes so many girls to be vulnerable. If you don't think that is worth considering, that's OK, but please don't misrepresent what I write.

There is already one poster who routinely does that. The last thing needed is another.
