I love the fact that the SNP, Labour and LibDem supporters think they can smell blood. I have two hopes... 1. We actually do have a General Election in the next 6 months because Corbyn and Farron will get battered. The Tories will have a much stronger majority. 2. The Jocks have another Independence Referendum and the SNP get their wish - a Yes majority..... give it less than 10 years and they will be worse off than Greece financially.

Totally spot-on. The wrong people are in power for Brexit to work at the moment. They exude incompetence. Cameron fvcked-up in a such a big way politically two years back it almost beggars belief for such a bright man. The Tories have rarely agreed on Europe, so I think he was brave, and when he lost he did the honourable thing.

We are much more powerful in the EU than people think because we have the veto its considered the last resort but Cameron did use it. I don't think this applies atall to the single market you pay for access but you don't get any say in how its run.

Problem is remaining in the single market will always be tied to freedom of movement.

It is a clear attempt to undermine democracy and allow at the very least an attempt to enforce a soft Brexit through Parliament. The judiciary have allowed it to happen. What it will actually mean is a pointless delay or a general election which will see Labour totally destroyed at the polls. Those damned judges........not just interpreting British law but OPENLY interpreting British law. Contemptable.

Well I think most of us were surprised that the Tories won outright, so hardly a miscalculation and in any event it is what an awful lot of Tories wanted.

An argument that the referendum was advisory is nonsense because of our political system of "first by the post". However, nothing is done "democratically" these days. Wealth means control and so will ultimately determine the outcome. There has never been any doubt in my mind about what would happen. Inevitably, we appear to be devoid of innovation and ideas as well as the leadership to take advantage of opportunities that Brexit actually presents. Easier for the brain dead and static lard ar$e$ to whine about what happened today than think about tomorrow. Should never have had the referendum in the first place but focusing the pre-referendum debate on such a narrow set of issues was ridiculous. Not having a plan B was downright inept. Self-interest groups throwing their toys out of the pram was entirely predictable. Its a constitutional fact that referendums are advisory. We are a Parliamentary democracy.

Almost the perfect storm - maybe not quite what she wanted a couple of months ago, but go to the country now and seriously increase her majority. I wonder how many will support an early dissolution.

I don't understand Stephen Phillips MP resignation. If it is going to parliament then he will be able to debate and represent his constituents. Isn't that the purpose of being an MP? Doesn't he like being whipped?

As I understand it - and doubtless there is much to come out but Phillips disagrees with May's attempts to bypass Parliament. He tends to think that leaving the EU is supposed to give power to Parliament not avoid by using the royal prerogative.
