Wow, now that is possibly the first time you have surprised me. Anyway, they ousted someone that had won in the past. But also someone that was a liar, self-serving and lazy. He was a liability. The trouble is that applies to all current senior Conservatives. It is Keir not Kier. Better learn that as he's going to be the next Prime Minister. I forgot that the I before E rule doesn't apply to dismal bellends.

That's completely untrue. When an overhaul is so obviously required dreaming of it isn't an option. Action is what is required, and before you can do that you need a clear, unequivocal vision of the future which is underwritten by a commitment accepted by all the major strands of political opinion. Is that too much to expect? Probably, but with the crisis we are witnessing it's the only practical way forward. It also depends on what is meant by "remodelling". So long as the fundamental principle of health care freely available to all at the time of delivery is not undermined I think most other things can be reviewed. Like how it is funded, and what is covered by the meaning of "health care". We need a long term strategy with staged goals because any meaningful changes are going to take a very long time to fully implement and whilst doing so the service needs to be maintained and both us, the users, and the staff need to be fully on board. There look to be some short term fixes which will inevitably have to be applied, but I would like to see them given on the condition that a Royal Commission be established which all the major parties are invited to participate in and commit to respecting the result. Who should chair such a vital Commission, and it's time frame are open questions, but it would be essential that it is not seen anywhere as kicking the can down the road. It would need its findings and recommendations to have teeth which could not be politically extracted by a future government. That's hard to arrange but short term political expediency at the expense of long term planning is what has got us into the current mess. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (07 Jan 2023 11.06pm) I stand by what I said. Adversarial politics and short termism has prevented NHS reform. TH NHS should be able to provide free and immediate emergency treatment when people need it. Doctors should be available for appointments and visits. Surgery for non emergencies should take place within a reasonable time frame.

Nothing but the usual opinionated waffle with nothing to back it. You are called out on your blatant hypocrisy. In your previous post stating that people have to accept that society has somehow changed and that it can't revert to their politics when you yourself call for change for politics that you yourself don't like.....it's written claptrap with the self awareness of an NPC. It's the unaware emperor with no clothes, which in your case is embarrassingly apt. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Jan 2023 11.01am) There is nothing hypocritical about stating obvious truths. It’s not that our society has changed. It’s the world it exists in which has and demands that we must too. Only totally out of touch luddites cannot accept that. Things like Brexit and election of unsuitable Presidents are both short term and reversible. One already has been! Our world has permanently changed. It’s part of an evolutionary process. It has nothing to do with my preferred politics. They aren’t driving this. They are reacting to it.

With the level of job vacancies throttling the economy, as well as impacting the NHS, there is little short term choice other than via immigration. Immigrants are light users of the NHS but an important source of staff. The NHS is hugely complex which requires experts in a multitude of expertise areas to come together to find the path forward. It’s good to know you have so many skills.

Let's be clear from the off. My post concerned the law here and how it related to conservatism and wasn't about the individual it was applied to. It is an example of how speech and thoughts are being policed by today's service and in my...and in many others view, is an abuse of what it should mean to have free expression. Especially so in Britain, the land of John Mills and where the very concept of modern free speech was born. In terms of Goddard, what I know of him is that he's an activist against both the far left and social liberalist establishment figures. I think he spent a lot of time in a yellow vest. I suspect the language used against him is the usual 'hate not hope' disfigurement and double standard that they apply to all their hate figures. For example, if this guy has gone out and actually assaulted someone....Say, for example threw a milkshake into someone's face then I could see and agree that he'd should be arrested and charged.....But oh wait. It seems that throwing milkshakes at people, for example Tommy Robinson and Carl Benjamin isn't an assault charge when the Police and establishment don't want it to be. The double standards on display with this kind of thing are fully in the light when anyone balanced actually looks behind the words. What I suspect is that Goddard is an example of yet another politically persecuted person on the right and not the demonised figure he's made out to be. However, I'll make it clear that my post wasn't about Goddard but about this bad law and how the Tories have allowed it to sit on the books when it contravenes what it means to be conservative. Another typical response when the reason well has run dry. Well, that's half true, I just can't be bothered to spend my time continually pointing out your double standards and hypocrisy again and again, post after post when everyone except your ideological brethren (all leftists, no 'one nation conservatives') understand that you just respond with the same disingenuous waffle. As I say, pure humbug.

Unless this guy is physically threatening someone it shouldn't be the Police's business. Otherwise if he is libeling someone the courts are available. You are fully entitled to your view of Goddard....though it should be noted that displaying a dislike for someone or thing is exactly how this law could be applied....which in my view is a disfigurement. I would also defend your right to opinions that I don't like. This was the norm in this country for many generations.

If you gaze into the abyss, sometimes the abyss can gaze back at you. This world has been seriously fecked up. The indoctrinated ideas are hugely damaging and leading nowhere positive. [Tweet Link]
